Default SBD Chat - Tuesday, Jan. 17

Good morning. It was nice to sleep right through to 6 this morning for a change but I think I need to wean myself off the melatonin as I am getting vivid and rather unpleasant dreams. The scale is up a couple of pounds this morning which must be stress.

We are under another storm watch but no longer have those horribly cold temperatures. Rain, ice pellets, snow are on the menu for today - we really don't need another 6" of snow but ... I have to go out this morning to do the Good Food Box packing and pick-up but the rest of the day will be spent snuggled in with doggage, quilting and a veal stew in the crock-pot. I love "free" days.

I hope everyone is doing well and that New England doesn't get a really big wallop of snow and other crud.

Come and chat.

We got our freezing rain overnight, but it's thawing fast and the roads should be fine by the time I have to leave. I'm gearing up for a full day and won't be home until 7 this evening. It was sure nice to have yesterday off but I think I'll be playing catch-up today. Thank goodness for a short week.

Good Morning!

Ruth, Melatonin gives me awful dreams, too. I know that aspirin isn't good for you every day, but taking two before bed helps me to sleep beautifully.

We are having an awful thunderstorm right now. I'm supposed to park at the school and walk Auston in this morning to deliver some paperwork. That may have to wait till tomorrow.

I have found a "closeouts, floor models, and scratch & dent" appliance store just south of Birmingham. We are going to look there. The thought of going into one of the major retailers and paying full price for new appliances is giving hubs a rash. That man can squeeze a nickel!

ETA: Linda, Be safe on the roads today.

Good morning Ice storm passing through here too. Hopefully it won't amount to much. I hope to actually leave the house for half an hour

Ruth - that stress sure is heavy. I'm hoping that as soon as I get rid of my stress the weight will fall off. I'm sure that will happen any day now.

Cottage - Hope the roads clear before you are on them.

Chel - My Dad loves a bargain so much he once ended up with 2 dobermans. Things to never, ever say to my father - if you buy two I'll give you an even better price.

Things are settling into a routine around here though I forgot to add feeding the cats to the schedule. Good thing they never let me forget. DW is making the slow, steady improvement. I'm hoping we can start to wean her off the oxygen, there's just too many pieces of equipment around here.

Time to plan my meals for the day and get that To Do list going

Ruth - ew, sounds like a yucky day! Glad you spent most of it inside. Oh - you reminded me - someone had made a Puerto Rican pork stew at the pot luck...I need to get that recipe!

Cottage - hope the day goes well. Watch that ice, it's slick out there!

Chelby - we got all our appliances at the local guy, and they matched (and beat) everyone else's price. Our fridge is a "scratch and dent"...yeah, the dent is on the side, up against the cabinet. Great deal!

Cyndi - how's your job search going? Do you even have time for that? Hope you get a few minutes to yourself...caretaker's fatigue could happen pretty easily in your situation.

Full day of work today. The scale was SCARY this am (salty meal yesterday is some of it), but I just can't seem to flick that switch in my brain. Hmm...I'll have to get Beck back out?

Good morning!

Ruth - I have vivid and unpleasant dreams almost nightly. I wonder what that says about my life! Enjoy the dog snuggles.

Linda - Take care outside!

Chelby - LOL about your husband. Appliances are soooo expensive. We got a dented one for our basement fridge since it doesn't show and we didn't need bells and whistles.

Cyndi - Glad to hear DW is improving. Be careful out there!

Twynn - If you figure out the magic of flicking the switch, please share!

I'm off to yoga again today. Then errands nearby. I'm making slow progress on the scrapbook so might try to get more done today. This afternoon we skype with my oldest. I'm assuming he has nothing important to talk about and is just being a good son and keeping in touch. I was so tempted to email him yesterday to warn him about the storm coming. Trying to cut the apron strings

Good Morning

Stay safe all my East Coast friends! The weather sounds yucky! We got a dusting of snow last eve and it's 10 degrees. Nothing too exciting. I work in 1/2 hour and my clothes are still in the dryer. I did sleep 9-1/2 hours, thought. I'd better get going.

Have a great day everyone!

good morning,

sound pretty routine for everyone here. We are having very dense fog at the moment.
Interesting about the Melatonin, I bought some recently and took it twice and did have dreams but also felt very sleepy all day.

One of my resolutions for life is complete, as some of you may recall a couple of years ago I really decluttered so spend the last few days decluttering from 2011 and brought two huge bag full of things to the Sally Ann. Hoping to never accumulate too much stuff although the yarn and beads are still here. lSometimes I love winter just for doing all the stuff I like to do.
take care
Sophie
