Default New Year Goals - SBD related and not

(Mods, feel free to move this thread if you wish - just thought it would be fun to do with SB friends).

What are your goals for the New Year? I'm trying to make concrete ones:

1. Get LDL cholesterol under 80
2. Donate blood 3x over the year
3. Date night/afternoon with hubby 1x per month; 2-3 overnight trips with hubby (if ok to leave DS with MIL) - trying to get that romance back!
4. Continue to attend church once a week (this was my goal last NY, and I think I almost made it each week - maybe I missed 3 weeks over the course of the year which is incredible considering at my old church I perhaps attended 4x a year).
5. Read Beck book and follow that program.
6. (Not sure if I can do this one because it depends on many factors)-think about putting apt. on the market and search for a larger one still in our school district.

I'm sure there are more. Anyone want to share theirs?

I only have one so far, and I'm not sure how to make it happen:

Sweet hubby and I need more romance -- more dates, more holding hands, more laughs, more *you know* We've turned into very practical partners trying to get the kid raised to be a productive member of society. We used to be 'cool' and do fun things. I guess I should tell him about my resolution. Maybe he will have some good ideas -- maybe he needs more romance as much as I do!

Chelby I am in the EXACT same situation as you and we also have an only child. My husband is very open to the idea of date nights and getting away so that is for sure going to be where I start.

Here goes:

1 - Get under 200 pounds once and for all!
2 - Pay off at least 5 of my credit cards
3 - Find a place to do some volunteer work and give back to my community
4 - Keep my apartment cleaner
5 - Run another race (either a 5k or a 10k)

I'd like more romance too...LOL. But I've made that resolution every year for the last few years and have gotten nowhere. I'm removing it from my list this year (especially since it's something I can't really control), and just maybe, I'll meet someone.

Everyone have a Happy New Year!

I don't do resolutions but goals, goals I do!

1. Pay off my credit card
2. End the year healthier and at a lower weight than I start (I hope to be at 199 by year's end)
3. Get to the gym at least once a week, with Wii exercise in between.
4. Be a great MOH for my BFF who gets married in Aruba in October 2012.

My "resolution" is to do more with less. Be efficient and plan my time well to balance work, school and family. Be a bit more frugal with my grocery shopping. Think before I buy something. Save money where I can. Pay down debt rather than buying things. Making each hour and dollar count.

Also, to make this year healthier than last. Exercise and run more consistently, keep up the healthy eating. End the year weighing less than I do now. And to be less focused on the scale and more on how I look and feel.

To organize my priorities. I need to put the Lord, my husband and my children at the top. Then work and this freakin' computer need to slide down the ladder a bit. I use the computer so much as an escape. I think when other things are in place, there will be a lot less emotional eating.

I would love, love, love to do a trail half marathon, but need to be injury free. I'm researching strength exercises to better balance myself. I honestly need to write out a schedule for myself (just like the kids!) and stick to it (what was funny is that I originally wrote "skip" instead of "stick"...can we say Freudian slip?!?). I also need to exercise in the morning more...because by the time I get out of work and/or the kids are home, I am SO NOT motivated to work out.

Good luck, fellow chicks!

Here are mine:

1. Finally lose these 20lbs that I've been holding onto since college.
2. Be more consistent with working out and especially running.
3. Make more time for me.
4. Run my first 10K (I've already signed up for it on March 4)

I don't believe in making big, lofty resolutions I will forget within a few days. I do like to sit back and take stock though, figure out what's working for me and what's not. The new year is a nice reminder to do that.

Last year I was reminded that I need to take time to take care of me. That's very important when others really need more from me. I also want to stop and remember what I have more and hopefully what I've lost less.

My concrete goals are:
1. Plan healthy meals and a little exercise every day. When the day is out of my control remember the healthy meals and walk when I can.
2. Keep a gratitude journal. Every day write down one thing I am grateful for. Can't use the same thing every day
3. Start looking forward again. Plan my garden. Investigate options for that career change I was going to make.
4. Get my muscles back

Here I go:

1- Stay on plan, I feel I have been doing so good and I am afraid when I least expect it, I will mess up. It is coming pretty easy to me now.
2- Exercise at least 4 times a week.
3- Go to church (this is something I have wanted to do for so long, and I fear going alone)
4- Leave work stress at work and not let it consume me during my off time
5- Make time for my hobbies and enjoy this life I have to the fullest, because it is a blessing.

Good Luck to me.

Here are mine:

1. visit the on plan site more often, I love planning what I will have for the day and it really works.
2. find more time for myself to put a dent in my stash (weaving yarns, knitting yarns, and beads)
3. try not to worry too much about my family but of course I have made that resolution every year and it has failed.
4. make more time for my friends, because last year I have neglected this.
take care
