Default I'm so awesome yet so chubby !

Hey guys, I'm approaching 30 and am still overwieght. I've been bulimic for roughly 10 years and to top it off I am a recovering alcoholic/addict - thanks genetic pool for giving me all the crap !. I'm on medication as well so I am very weary that this could make me put on even more weight. To put it simply I am terrified.

I set goals in my head to never eat junk again, then within the blink of an eye I have broken my just set goal, this leads to more low self esteem about my lack of will power and causes me to eat more.

I am really in a cycle of disordered thinking/eating/thinking etc.

Any support would be so very appreciated. I have read all about eat stop eat and know that it works, I am going to set a goal of achieveing one 24 hour fast per week, then increase this to the recommended two per week.

Is there anyone else out there that has a history close to mine that would like to be firends ?

Hi! Welcome! I think healthier goals are choosing not to have junk food today but maybe I will one day sort of thoughts. Having huge "NO foods" may be setting you up for failure. You can do this though! Good luck!

Hey, welcome to 3FC We're all here for you.

If eliminating junk food is hard, you might want to just limit it. I've lost 60+ pounds just cutting back on a lot of things. I haven't totally eliminated "bad" foods, I just watch how much of them I eat.

I have to say, I love the title of your post.
You've got quite a package of challenges you've got going for you. But challenges are meant to be overcome, aren't they? You can do it.
And occasionally, as we all know....rules are meant to be broken too. But ONLY occasionally! So don't beat yourself up about eating some junk food. Just don't do it often. Try not to binge. It sucks when you know you have to recover from the slip up and lose those few extra pounds that you accidentally (or rebelliously) made, but we've all done it so don't give it more meaning than it merits. Limiting yourself is a good way to go--as in, create a schedule that will allow yourself to have that more-delicious-than-it-deserves candybar or small fry. But not king size, and not extra large. If you vow to cut out ALL junk food for the REST of your life, not only will you be miserable, but every time you make the mistake of eating what you consider "junk food" you'll only hate yourself for it. So if you work it in to your schedule in a reasonable manner, you won't have to get pissed at yourself or all worked up over it.
I know, easier said than done. I sound like such a preacher don't I?
Why do you want to do fasting? I don't think fasting is healthy, and I know that would probably make me sad if I did it. Who is recommending that? If you want your body to cooperate with you, you shouldn't shock it into becoming desperate for food. Eating nothing for a day is tough, and the next day is even tougher I would think by trying not to overeat. If you want to eat minimally on your "fasting days," there are smart ways to do it.
Have you seen a nutritionist? My sis saw one in college and he really helped her. If you can find a good one he/she might be able to help you.

I'm in a similar boat. I started antidepressants recently and I'm worried it's going to impact my weightloss.

I am also a recovering addict myself. The antidepressants are the only thing keeping me sane in that department, so hopefully I don't have to choose between being chubby and being not crazy.
