I just discovered this forum. I have been trying to lose weight for years and nothing has worked. My dr just looks at my perfect lab reports and shrugs and says some people are just big.
It's not like I am 160, I am 250. Yes, and I can't believe I just wrote that. Though I am a bigger person frame size. I think my perfect weight would be 170.
I just keep gaining weight. I have tried the gym, I have tried watching what I eat like a hawk, and I just keep gaining. You name it, I've tried it. I am on a 2lb a month gain roll and I just feel doomed.
*sigh*
I hope to find some help here. Goodness knows I need it!
Welcome and good luck . Do you have an exercise and diet plan ?
Nope.
The last few months I have just given up.
I gave the last 1200 calories a day/working out 6 days a week stint over a year to work. I didn't lose a thing, I still kept gaining.
I am looking for inspiration.
I had the same problem. Made three doctors run lab tests for me because something was off. They didn't believe me, and neither did the lab work.
I had the whole winter to lose as much weight as I could before my wedding in May last year. I put myself on a challenging diet and did a lot of exercise. Didin't lose a pound. Man was I furious! If my own wedding wasn't motivation, what is? And I get the nasty feeling my family didn't believe the effort I put in because it sure as heck didn't show!
I just found a bariatric doctor three weeks ago and was put on some medications and a very specific diet. *He* had a different opinion of what "normal" was for thyroid, believes I'm borderline diabetic (which neither doctor before seemed to believe), and has no doubt that I have PCOS based on specifics in my medical history. The last 3 doctors I've had wouldn't help me, but this one did. And so far I've lost like thirteen pounds in three weeks. HE knows what he's doing!
Any bariatric doctors near you? I'm not sure they all do the same thing....I was recommended this diet program through my new gyno when I asked if she could recommend a nutritionist. I could tell you what I'm doing diet-wise though, if you'd like to try something different?
You're not alone.
I had never heard of a bariatric doctor so I looked it up. There are some around where I am but most of them advertise surgery, which I don't want.
I am going to research it some more. The one was really expensive but said that she takes insurance.
I am pretty impressed that you have lost all that weight in such a short amount of time! WOW! Thanks for giving me a heads up about that type of dr.
