Default IP and have PCOS and just found out I am Preggos

HI ya-all,
So I have been on IP for about 3 weeks and I have PCOS. I took a pregnancy test and its positive, I am not far along at all. I am very worried since I have had 3 miscarriages with the last one in August 2011. I am pretty sure the diet stablizes my hormones and get me pregnant. However, I typically eat all the BAD carbs in the world during pregnancy and end up miscarrying.

So my question is: has anyone got pregnant on the program and then decided to continue eating some of the IP food??? With a modified diet or maybe being on phase 4??? I am still very ove weight but over the years I have lost 100 lbs just having a hard time lossing the last 30.

Any support or thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

Manie

Congratulations!
The wonderful people here always have great advice, however, when it comes to a developing baby, talk to your doctor and ask him/her to refer you to a nutritionist. Your body needs a lot of nutrients right now and, as great as IP products are for weight loss, there are simply not nearly enough nutrients to support you and your baby. Take the IP nutritional information (including ingredient list) to the nutritionist and see what they have to say. A healthy baby is far more important than a few extra pounds.

Keep us posted!

I think you have to kind of weigh it out. Many people eat MUCH better on IP than they would on their own. I have seen people go through pregnancy and eat all the crap in the world and still deliver healthy babies despite the advice of their doctors. I don't think there would be anything wrong sticking with IP to keep you balanced but maybe using IP products to supplement your eating and taking in extra calories through clean foods.

Congratulations and I hope all goes well for you. Truthfully I think your question would be best answered by a doctor. IP is wonderful for loosing weight, but not nearly enough to support a developing baby I think.

I agree with Dana. If it were me I would eat fruit and dairy. When I was pregnant I ate sensilble small meals... 3 times a day, 3 snacks, diabetic diet. I have PCOS and hypoglycemia and was 200lbs when I got pregnant. I had gestitional diabetes. I only gained 10lbs. Which made the doc very happy and me too. Not sure what Phase 4 is but if it doesn't include any supplements it might be worth looking into the program. Seeing it healthy eatting to maintain current weight. I would not take any IP products they use an artificial sweetners. Good luck and Congrats!!!!
