Default Do you binge when your sick?

Today I feel beyond lousy!! I have a horrid headache and not even lots of water and pain meds have helped. So I found myself seeking comfort food while lying on the couch.

Do you guys ever find that to be a trigger?

Oh yes!! I get migraines and they were triggered in childhood if I skipped meals - now if I get a migraine I have the urge to eat immediately!! But I make sure it is savoury and at least half way healthy!

I'm so tempted to hobble down to the store and buy out their clearanced halloween chocolate. Lucky for me I don't think I can hobble even as far as the front door!

Yeah, i can relate to that. I usually do end up bingeing when I'm sick because I don't have the energy to fight it! Hopefully you will!

OMG every time Everytime I feel like something is wrong with me... my tummy hurts, oh i'm sure if i eat some of x I'll feel better. My head hurts, oh I'm sure some of x will do the trick. On and on and on. It sucks. I recently started catching myself doing this so I'm trying to be more conscious and realize that it's all in my head and food probably isn't the reason why I actually feel better. sigh.

I hate the idea of comfort food. Because when you want the comfort, the concept of moderation seems to fly out the door!! I think I like to use being sick as an excuse to binge. As if crappy food is gonna you feel any better than crap!

I used to still binge even if I was unwell and with no appetite, I've always found that odd.

I dont normally when I'm sick I'm sick for weeks I lost 10lbs recently from being sick but put on like 15 right after because I was over eating after not eating from so long and I got use to the feeling of always eating all the time.

grief, stress and depression seem to be my triggers. I put on 4 pounds grieving over the death of my puppy dog. Stress from work and all the things been going on wrong this last week has brought some depression down on my head. UGH

Absolutely! Pain is a major trigger for me. I wonder if it has to do with the fact that whenever I was sick as a child, my mom gave me something to make me feel better. If I had a flu, she made this weird egg thing with cocoa and honey. Or chicken soup, etc. Now, I suffer from chronic daily migraines and if they are severe enough, it is nearly impossible for me not to binge. It is my goal to figure this out and the next time I get a cold/flu I'm going to see if I can abstain from binge eating.

I guess it depends on the the type of sick. If I'm vomiting or have diarrhea, food is the last thing on my mind! However I suppose I would possible binge on liquid calories. Ginger Ale and juice was what my mom used to give me when I was sick to keep me hydrated.
