Hey ladies! I'm Mercedes. I'm 20 years old and married to my high school sweetheart who is now a United States Marine. We have been stationed here at Camp Lejeune, NC since March '10. We don't have any kids at the moment, just our three furbabies, Sparky (Jack Russell/Beagle mix), Nike (Tuxedo cat), and UT (Tabby cat). They are our kids for right now.

I currently go to school full-time online. Hopefully by May '13, I will have my AAS in Office Administration. With switching my major twice and moving, I'm so behind and just ready to be done! Been going at it since August '09! I also pet sit in my home seeing as we are down to one vehicle now. It's been that way since December '10.

Kind of the reason why I have put on some pounds, I have no way to go if I want to go to the gym or take Sparky to the park. We live 45 minutes from base and my husband has to be at work in the mornings anywhere from 4-6 and has appointments and random places to go so I don't take the car unless I really need to for my appointments or important errands. I have not exercised in God knows how long. I can only blame myself, but I have absolutely no motivation being way out here in the boonies by myself almost all day. My husband doesn't get home until late at night and I have no friends. Since we've been stationed here, I have put on 37 pounds and slowly climbing up. I was 190, I'm now 227 pounds. My sex drive is at an all-time low and I can't stand to be out of my clothes around my husband anymore.

We recently had our pictures done and I can't believe how big I have gotten! So right then I decided it was time for a change. Starting December 1, I am going on a 1,800-calorie diet and exercising every weekday on a treadmill I plan on buying on November 15 and going to the gym with my husband on the weekends. We should be moving on base hopefully by the beginning of the year so that will help more seeing as there's a gym on base and I could walk there! Hopefully by the time summer rolls around, I'll be at my goal weight of 160 pounds and be able to wear a two-piece again!

I actually talked to my mama last night and she was the one that referred me to this support forum! She said it helped her to shed some pounds before her wedding. She actually had a little weight loss competition awhile back on here which we plan to start another one up on December 1 to help me through these next 6-8 months. I think this is going to be the toughest thing for me to do that's why I need a lot of support. It's great to know my mama wants to join me and that she's supporting me. Hopefully I will meet some more amazing ladies on here that are willing to support me and give me advice or encouragement when I need it.
