Default wearing black

i so feel uncomfortable at the weight i'm at. i don't fit into any of my jeans and so don't wear them. i just went out and bought another pair of dark grey track pants. now i have three pairs of track pants, enough to keep me in pants for the week. i noticed all the colors are leaving my clothing and everything is becoming grey and black as i feel uncomfortable with my weight. i was wondering if this has happened to anyone else--if losing weight has helped change this or if it's a passing phase. i just don't feel like wearing anything that will make me stick out in any way.. it's like camo for the day.

I've always gravitated towards dark colours, and buying something thats not navy, black, or dark grey is rare for me. I do have a few purple and light blue shirts but I've never really liked bright yellows or baby blues...*shrug* I know part of it is me thinking that darking colours = slimming & not wanting to stand out with "bright" colours but I don't think I've ever avoided buying something that looks good on me just because of the colour..

i dont wear light colors cause it makes me look bigger..my rolls stand out more on my stomach when wearing light colors..dark colors mask that.

I can completely relate to this. I have only noticed how colourless my wardrobe had become. Now that I am getting close to my target weight the colour has started to come back in - and this season the stores are full of brght colours!

While dark colours do make us look thinner - bright colours are such fun to wear and I am so sorry I avoided them for so long!

I wear a lot of black and always have, even when I was thinnish. I mix in a little wine, dark purple and gray. It's just the palette I like to wear.

I too wear a lot of dark colors. Sometimes I go through phases that I look in my closet and realize everything is super dark and then I go through phases of buying coloured accent camis and tees to wear with dark colors. But never anything pastel. I can't bear pastels.

My wardrobe isn't colourless it's just... very flowy. I have lots of little dresses that I wear with stretchy cotton tights that fit whether I'm skinny or fat. As I've become bigger, the number of these has increased... Luckily they're cute, but even those are starting to become a fit issue. Not in terms of actually getting them on, but they're starting to sit higher on my thighs because there's less loose cloth to hang.

I tend to wear very loose tops, but I do wear skinny jeans, I just don't liek the way my thighs look in them. But I suppose that's why I'm here

Oh my goodness....I love black ! Whenever I want to look my best, it is my go to choice. You can always add color with a bold necklace, long flowing scarf or a pair of shoes etc.

I think it is your attitude that is bringing you down about wearing/buying dark colored clothes. Sounds like you think you have to because of your size as opposed to wanting to because you like dark clothes. Or perhaps you really would LOVE to wear a pair of red pants but know that if you do you won't feel comfortable. Well, then, if that's the case wear now what you feel good in and make wearing colors one day part of your motivation to continue losing weight.

We all need goals and this sounds like a good one!

My wardrobe has gone through phases - sometimes I'm mostly dark colors and sometimes there are splashes of bright colors here and there. There's nothing wrong with wearing dark colors unless you're wearing those colors because you somehow feel like you're not 'good' enough to wear cuter, brighter colors that you WANT to wear. If that's the case then just remind yourself that YOU are totally awesome just the way you are and you can wear whatever you think is cute and comfy!

Black skinny jeans or leggings are definitely my first choice of clothing when I’m not comfortable with my current weight. They look good and make me a little bit slimmer than I really am, so of course I love them. And with the proper top I gain my confidence back.

Though, there are many other color outfits which could make you look good even if you’re not in your perfect shape. For instance you can check any of the fashion websites and see how the girls with more curves are dressed – Rhianna, Beyonce, J.Lo, etc. I admire their stylists

My wardrobe tends to run the rainbow!

I like to have choice for days where I feel like being a bit of a wallflower and hiding in darker colours or need to look a bit more serious, to a choice of fabulously bright coloured clothes that give me a smile just to look at and seem to lift and brighten my mood.

I've been like that over a variety of weights though, so it depends more on my mood then my weight as to what colours I feel like wearing.

My wardrobe is always so dark. Blacks, browns, tans, dark greens stuff like that. I just really like the earthy sort of colors. Maybe it's my subconscious telling me that I look terrible in light colored stuff *shrug*

But I say I just love those colors!

No matter my weight, I am usually in black. It's a running joke in my family, actually. I like black: it's slimming, it's versatile, and it's easy to accessorize.

If you feel your wardrobe is starting to lack color, try adding a splash with an accessory: a scarf, your shoes, or your handbag.
