Default Reduced Daily Points

I had an interesting conversation with my leader this morning. I'm at 29 daily points. She had mentioned in a recent meeting that when she was losing weight she was a slow loser, rarely losing more than 1/2 pounds a week.

I was commenting to her that I also lose slowly. She knows I'm at 29 points. She told me that if I wanted to I could reduce my daily points. She said that I should not go below 26 daily points. She said that they were told that they could tell people that daily points could be adjustable, but that we couldn't go below 26 daily points (it wasn't clear if the most you could reduce was 3 points or if someone with a higher daily target could reduce more). She said that she wasn't allowed to say it in the meeting because they didn't want people to lower it too much and get too hungry.

However, if someone brought up to her the topic of slow loss, she was allowed to tell them they could reduce their daily target. She told me that she had personally reduced her own daily point target quite awhile ago.

That sounds like a great idea and could be the reason people are having issues with NOT losing on the new plan. With the old plan, a point was lost for roughly every 10lbs lost because as one loses, their body needs less calories. This is exactly why the old plan worked so well for me, I lost the first 80lbs on it. I have been on plan for 21 months and have struggled for the past 7 months. I've been gaining and losing the same few pounds so I think I may try lowering my DP too!

I'm also wondering what kind of tweaks WW is going to be making to PP..

Well, I'm going to drop my daily points to 26 and see how that works.

I wonder about tweaks also. I could see them dropping everyone's daily points, particularly people below about 200 pounds who were mostly already at the 29 minimum.

Another thing they could do is have a range of daily points. I remember back in the old days they did have a range.

I also wonder if they will put a cap on the zero point fruit. Something like the first X servings are zero point and anything over that you count?

I do think that the people who have struggled most on PP are (1) those at lower weights where 29 points is just too high a minimum and (2) those who eat a lot of fruit and so going to zero point fruit meant they were suddenly eating a lot more calories. My husband is doing WW with me and he had been losing faster than me. But when we went on PP his weight loss slowed down for several months until he realized that he just couldn't eat as much fruit as he was eating. I don't eat a lot of fruit so I found that I could count points under the Momentum plan or I could count them under PP and I was within my points and my calories were fine. But for fruit eaters that doesn't necessarily work out well.
