Hi all! Mkendrick posted about volume v. taste v. health content earlier, so I thought I would start a thread where we can list our tastiest, most voluminous dishes! This is what I'm having for dinner tonight:
1 bag frozen stirfry veggies (120)
1 can water chestnuts (70)
5 shrimp, medium to large (35)
1 tbs stir fry sauce and a dash of soy (20)
1 servign sriracha sauce (5)
Sautee it all up, and it's yummy and only 250 cals!
Well, I said taste is most important to me, so this might not seem very filling to everyone else, but I was craving pizza last night so my boyfriend and I made pizza english muffins.
1 whole wheat english muffin= 110 ( 1 muffin makes 2 mini pizzas)
1 tbsp Hunts traditional pasta sauce (or whatever you like)= 6.25
1/8 cup shredded low fat mozzerella cheese= 40
101.25 calories for 1 pizza.
I ate 4, lol so it was 405. I guess you could eat 2 slices of normal cheese pizza for about the same amount, but to me eating 4 mini pizzas was more satisfying. Plus I know that I am using low fat cheese, and a whole wheat muffin, so I know it's better for me. I am going to try a veggie pizza w no cheeze next time

I recommend using Flatout for pizza. The light varieties are 90 calories, 9 grams of fiber and really big. They end up being like a thin crust pizza as long as you follow the directions by crisping them first, then baking with toppings.

You can always order steamed veg at a chinese restaurant with "sauce" of your choice on the side and forgo the rice, or have a little rice or brown rice on the side as well.

Great idea! I even have an open can of tomato paste in my fridge I didn't know what to do with and english muffins in my freezer! THANKS for the great idea!
This may not sound as delicious to others as it does to me... but I LOVE....
Roasted Beets with Dijon Mustard
Preheat oven to 425. Rub beets (washed) in a little bit of olive oil, place in casserole dish lined with aluminum foil. Bake for 35 minutes, or until able to be pierced with fork. Peel off skins.
Cut into cubes and toss with Dijon mustard, lemon juice, salt, and pepper.
YUM! Beets are low calorie and I feel like I can eat a huge serving of 2 dijon beets for under 100 calories.
