Hi from Dutchland
Hello everyone.
I'm 30 years old and recently moved to the Netherlands for a new job opportunity and to start a family with my half-Dutch boyfriend. I only became interested in fitness and healthy living 4 years ago and since then I've kept falling off the wagon and getting back on again.
I can't say that I was ever overweight, for most of my adult life I've been around the 110 lbs/50 kg mark (at 4'9''/150 cm), but with no physical activity to speak of and eating habits all over the place. Then I ran across a personal trainer who put me on a weight lifting regimen and my already well-developed muscle mass (genetic thing) developed even more, to the point where I was gaining over 4 lbs of muscle mass a month.
Unfortunately I have issues with both sticking to an exercise/eating plan and with having a huuuge sweet tooth. So in the past few years I've been going back and forth with gaining and losing fat. I'm not focused so much on the actual weight, since that went up a lot with increased muscle mass, but on body mass index and body fat percentages. I have no idea what level I'm at currently, since I've been moving countries and places over the last 3 months, but once I get settled in Amsterdam I'll find a place to do some measurements.
I've started eating healthy again, calorie intake around the 1200 mark with lots of protein and healthy fats and keeping the carbs low with mostly vegetables and fruits in my diet. I have one cheat day per week, so that I don't go insane with cravings and to reset my metabolism.
Exercise will be the most tricky part for me once I move to Amsterdam. For the last few years I've been doing mostly group workouts with kettlebells, dumbbells, barbells and body weight exercises, very intense and challenging. I couldn't find anything similar in Amsterdam and solo training in the gym never appealed to me. I also want to pick up a MMA class 2 or 3 times a week since I absolutely abhor "cardio".
