  • For the last week I ate Fruit Smoothies. About 400 Calories. They are very filing and YUMMY...but an awful mess to clean up...

So today I ate 2 scrambled eggs, 2 slices of buttered toast and a handful of grapes. I was starving 2 hours later. Not sure if it is because I worked out for 45 minutes or it just wasn't enough...

Or another question, can you suggest a low calorie morning item that I can eat as a snack???

Thank You all for your help
  • I don't have time to do an actual breakfast in the mornings so I split it into mini meals. I usually have a fiber one bar after I work out and when I drive to work (around 7 a.m.) and then at work will have either a piece of fruit or yogurt around 8:30 or 9. Then I'll have another snack around 10:30 or so: string cheese, yogurt, fruit, another bar, slice of toast with 1 tbs of peanut butter. It really depends on my mood. We have a full-size fridge at work and I can keep my stuff in it.
  • Scrambled eggs: Awesome. Here's how I change them up.

I buy eggbeaters or 100% eggwhites from the supermarket instead of using whole eggs. I also buy turkey bacon instead of regular bacon.

I use a tsp of oil and quick cook an onion, garlic, mushrooms and spinach before adding in my egg whites.

Then I get my turkey bacon and microwave up about 6 slices.

I wind up with a plateful of veggies, egg whites, and turkey bacon, and top it with an ounce of feta cheese.

It's a lot of protein, plus filling veggies.
  • Greek yogurt and a banana. Generally Chobani. Sometimes I splurge and get Greek Gods yogurt in the reduced fat cinnamon-vanilla-orange flavor, because it's so freaking tasty. It satisfies the following requirements:

    A.) Filling.
B.) Lasting. This is probably because of the high protein content in the yogurt. I'm not a low-carber, but if I have a really carb-y breakfast, I crash.
C.) It requires no thought. I'm not awake in the morning, and if my planned breakfast preparation is any more complicated than "grab and consume," I'm probably going to end up going to McDonald's or something.
D.) Greek yogurt is delicious. I can't stand the texture of regular yogurt, but the thicker stuff? Oh my, yes. It's like pudding.
  • I eat one cup of Multi Grain Cherrios as a snack in the mornings. It is only 110 calories, slightly sweet and I like the crunchiness.

Thats what I have for breakfast with 1 cup of skim milk sometimes i will put 1/4 cup of blueberries on it.

  • I usually have a protein shake in the morning with a tablespoon of peanut butter and about half a banana. It's a good, mindless breakfast that keeps me satisfied for a good while. Normally my workout sessions end around 10 am and I'm usually quite hungry at that time and like to have something around 100-150 calories... usually either vanilla chobani or some string cheese and half an apple. If you're hungry after your workout it could be a couple of reasons.... either you haven't drank enough water during working out or you really are hungry. Try drinking some water and if you're still feeling hungry 10 minutes later then have a snack. Many times we mistake thirst for hunger... and it never hurts to drink more water.
  • I'm getting really bored with my breakfasts. I'm on the Quick Weight Loss Center plan and I've been following it. Usually for Breakfast I have:

1 piece of diet lite bread toasted (45 calorie bread) with 1 teaspoon of lite margarine and I sprinkle a little ground cinnamon when it comes out hot.
    4 oz of skim milk
and I'll have ONE fruit. For the morning I Usually choose either 10 green grapes or 6 medium strawberries or 1/8 of a cantaloupe. With 1 packet of splenda sweetener

Sometimes I switch it up and have an egg, but I like eggs more in the afternoon than breakfast.

What kind of protein shake do you get?? I have been trying to do some research on this but am not finding anything good.

I did drink a HUGE 32oz cup of water after I worked out, but kinda hard to drink it while I'm in the pool.

~ Your diet seems VERY rigorous. I commend you on sticking with it. I could never be that disciplined.

lynnie923 & NEMom ~is that all you have for breakfast or is that just a snack?? I don't think I could do that. My last meal of the day is at 6:30 -- 7:30 at night. I know I would need a lot more for breakfast that 110 calories.

Alot of you mentioned GREEK YOGURT...I have never had it and kinda scared to try it. What brand and flavor should I try?? What is the difference between it and regular yogurt??

    Lovely
~ I am soooo coming to your house for breakfast. That sounds soooo yummy!!! I am gonna have to try some of that!! Feta and spinach is MY favorite combination ever!!! I make a killer pasta salad with the two together.

Thank You all for your advise and help.

The great greek yogurt debate! I kid, I kid. Don't be scared

Greek Yogurt is wonderful, but you have to be prepared for it. It's tart and thick. In fact, it's actually a WONDERFUL substitute for sour cream when used plain.

There are a lot of brands that either have added in mixed fruit or honey, and that really sweetens it up quite a bit.

I prefer Fage 0%, personally, but there's also Chobani, and Stoneyfield Oikos that are well known and perfectly good brands.

If you get it plain, you can also mix in your own honey or splenda to sweeten it up to taste so you get the right amount of tart.
  • I either eat a handful of almonds and 2 slices of toast with margarine.

Well, I've only been doing it for about a month, so I'm just now starting to get a little tired of it. lol. I'm doing the Quick Weight Loss Center plan. They sell their own line of oatmeal and snacks you have to buy, but I was thinking I might get some plain oatmeal from the store and use it for breakfast, only thing is I'll get fussed at about it.
  • Ahhhh LOVELY, you always make me laugh!!! I love it!! So I should be prepared for a whole new experience when I go GREEK huh??? Honestly, I am a bit of a picky eater...don't tell my kids I said that...I guess after 36 yrs I have the right?? NO I don't, I should expand my tastes.

Compared to what some of you eat for breakfast, I feel like I over eat. I know that I'm not, but I can't understand how y'all aren't ready to kill someone your so hungry. My be when I lose more weight and have cut back on my calories I will be in the same boat.

I just know that cutting out the late night eating has REALLY made me appreciate that fist meal in the mornings.

Ohhh..Lovely I found a good recipe to try out...

1/4 cup cream (half & half)
    12 large eggs
    1 tsp pepper
    1 tsp salt
    16 oz pork sausage

    Directions

Preheat oven to 350 °F (175 °C). Spray muffin tin with cooking spray like Pam (can also use mini bundt muffin pan).
Spoon cooked sausage in to the tin, filling 1/2 way.
Mix eggs, cream and other additions (optional: cheese, salsa, bacon, onion - be creative) together and spoon on top of the sausage until almost full.
Bake for about 20 minutes, until eggs are done and slightly golden.
Remove from oven and let sit for a couple minutes. Gently use a spoon to remove the "muffin like" creations.

    Doesn't that sound YUMMY!!!!
  • Sheshalesha - That sounds delicious! Like yummy breakfast egg muffins! I can totally see adding in some chopped up veggies to them, too Hmm...with visitors this week I might hop out and grab a dozen eggs to make everyone this kind of easy breakfast. Woo!

My big meal time is dinner/evening. So I'm usually good to go with a "medium" breakfast and a "light" lunch. Dinner is my feast!
  • I have been averaging about 400 calories per meal and about 100 calories for a snack. Except for today I have been WELL UNDER my 2000 calories. Today was a special treat. My mom took us to Dairy Queen when I picked the kids up from school. My small blizzard was more than any of the meals I ate all day...oh well...

I was just reading the comments on that recipe...Use foil liners and subtract a couple of eggs if adding lots of veggies, also place muffin tin on a cookie sheet incase of over flowing.

I cant wait till Wednesday when I can go Grocery shopping. I have been collecting recipes all day for next weeks meal plan...
