Default My Kryptonite.. Coffee Drinks!!

Hello, my name is Alicia and I am a coffeedrinkoholic. I am so addicted to coffee drinks! Just the cold ones though with a million calories.. Fraps, frappes, mocha blast from Baskin Robbins.. All of them! Anyone else have this problem? I have been able to get control on my soda intake but I am so freaking addicted to these drinks! I have tried not to drink them and I get the cravings so bad I finally give in! Any advice on what I should do? I don't drink regular coffee so that is out.. I don't drink them everyday but I do have them a few times a week. I know they are a big reason I have gotten to weigh what I do yet I just can't seem to cut them out..

Have you considered making your own coffees at home?

Or going for even the lighter versions of coffee drinks made with less sugar or splenda or made with skim milk?

OR...more ors... What about allowing yourself one a week? You could say that (example!) Wednesday is your coffee treat day, so that when you're hankering for one you can tell yourself that you absolutely can have one... one Wednesday.

I like the idea of "rewarding" yourself, once a week, with what you want. The whole idea of depriving yourself in the name of a "diet" is what makes most weight loss programs fail. Nothing will work if you just can't have what you want once in a while. Now, this doesn't mean rewarding yourself every day. Remember, just once a week. It will be something you can work toward. If you can make it through a work week, why not reward yourself on Saturday? Just a thought.

It's funny because on the weekend I don't crave the drinks like I do during the work week. I think I just need something at my desk with me to make it seem like the day is going faster. Is that weird?

Back when I worked at an office, I had what we all called "Dutchess Fridays". Every other Friday was our paycheck day. So. Every other Friday we treated ourselves to Dutchess on the way to work.

I liked that, and when I began losing weight, I changed it to Dunkin Fridays and bought myself a coolatta instead. Didn't feel deprived at all, and it stayed a regular treat!

That actually makes perfect sense. You've developed a habit with them and your brain is telling you that you must have them at work. I like my coffee and I've made a choice to keep them in my diet. Instead of getting the high calorie drinks I go for a grande iced americano. I do add sweetener to it and no more than 2 tablespoons of half and half. Although it's all fat calories I do account for it and it's only 45 calories.

That's the thing though, I don't like the iced coffee lol.. Tastes too bitter and too much like "real coffee" to me lol..

Is this a morning routine? Do you havea coffee make at home? I make my own almost everyday, mmm iced cold creamy sweet coffee! I can tell you how to make them with instant and with a keurig if you're interested. They are not fat free but they are a far cry from starbucks and wayyyyyy cheaper

i love mochas too...i used to drink mcdonald's frappes all the time until i looked up how many calories are in those LOL needless to say, ive only had a few sips of one since than, maybe 5 months ago now...i definitely like my coffees...i usually get a nonfat sugar-free mocha from a drive-through local espresso stand...i dont pretend its healthy, but i think the nonfat, sugar free part makes it at least a better choice than full fat, full of sugar coffees

i get cold iced mochas from a drive-through place, nonfat and sugar free flavoring...i also get blended mochas from there, nonfat and sugar free...and also hot mochas, same thing...they even make a sugar-free mocha mix (not just sugar free flavor) that you can request...i have to order "nonfat sugar-free mocha with sugar-free hazelnut" and say it like that or they wont make it like that...they also know me, and know i only order 12-ounce drinks, rarely 16-ounce ones and NEVER anything larger..and that i dont like whip cream on my drinks LOL

oh and blended mochas (not iced ones) taste JUST like
