Default SBD Chat - Friday August 5

Wakey! Wakey!

We are up and drinking coffee. Where are the rest of you!

Unfortunately the American invasion is about to end. Linda, Monica and Carley will be heading south this morning and the dogs and I will be home to mourn. I'm sure I'll find something to distract me.

See y'all later.

Ruth - LOL. Now I feel just a wee bit guilty that I've been up so long and didn't come here first!

Rikki - Thanks for your suggestion; I'll check it out. Seems that many of the things I could add are things I've cut for SBD. (Grains, for example. I do best on here eat less of them.)

So, being Friday, I'm working out with my mom and trainer. Dinner out will be a huger challenge. We were invited by my teen's friend's parents and they chose the place: a Chinese restaurant where she works. And I am wondering if she'll end up ordering for us all. Interesting invitation actually since my teen leaves for college soon and we hardly know these parents and only NOW do they want to get together. Hmmm. One more trip to Bed, Bath & Beyond on tap for later today, I think.

So... my teen fell off his long board yesterday. (It's like a skate board but not designed for tricks. He got it to motor around campus.) He is scrapped and bruised and his wrist might be sprained. Makes me almost glad he's leaving so soon! It's been a heck of a stressful parenting week!

Hi to all who follow!

Good Morning

I was sleeping so soundly....I didn't even hear the wake up call!

Ruth, I'm glad you all have had such a nice visit! Yes, it will be very quiet without them.

Karen, have a great workout! Glad DD didn't break anything!

Me, basking in the glory of coming to a successful stopping point with the two gigantic projects. We traveled yesterday and now I'll have to readjust to a more simple life. It rained like crazy last night but the pavement is dry. I'll ride my bike to the pool this morning, enjoy some water aerobics then soak my tired muscles in the 104 degree hot pool....Heaven on earth.

Have a great day everyone!

Morning Ruth, Karen and Debbie!

I am freaking out - lunch with my big boss today (only took him 2 years to try to "get to know me." I somehow feel that premise is a guise though. So, took some time at home to eat a good breakfast because I have no clue where we are going. I think I will tell him I am in the mood for a salad

Happy Friday!!!

Good morning and Happy Friday,

Just got done going for a run with DD1 so that was fun but it was very humid out there.

I took yesterday and today off from work, needed some time away from work. Yesterday took the girls school shopping and got some great outfits for them at bargain prices.

I was supposed to get my mammo today but they called about an hour ago to say the machine is not working, oh well, I tried to avoid taking time off from work to do this so jumped at the chance to have done on my day off.

Today I think we are going to go to the Zoo.

Have a great day everyone.

Hey Karen -
I actually eat Chinese food more than one might think "smart" on SB, and I have very few after-effects.
I drink extra water all day before going, and get chicken and broccoli with either no rice at all or a half serving of brown rice. Egg drop soup is filling to start with and keeps me away from the egg rolls . . .
Chicken and cashews is another favorite of mine, but I get HALF the cashews so I do not over-eat. Maybe one of those dishes would help!

Be well -

Hi all!
The amusement park yesterday was a ton of fun. We did a ton of walking, I acaully got in a lot of water. We purchased one of the refillable waterbottles and instead of filling it with the pop or full-sugar lemonade they were offering, I requested ice water on each refill! And I filled that sucker every chance I got. It was hot anyway, so it was great for the kids too

My body either likes my eggs and veggies for breakfast or the green monster (or both!). Since switching it up with just a limited amount of good carbs later in the day, the scale has started to move again, and in the right direction this time!!

My chia seeds arrived yesterday, anxious to give them a try today.

Happy Friday! I hope you all enjoy your weekend!

Hello friends - Happy Friday
we had to be out of here by 7 for DW's neurology appt. so I just about managed to get myself together. Then it was off to Trader Joe and Whole Foods after dropping her off. Wayyy too much time in the car for a day off! On the plus side all distance related errands are done and we are well stocked again.

Quick medical summary for those interested - the surgeon does all open chest thymectomies. DW was more than a bit freaked out by the saw opening the breastbone part, also the 4 weeks out of work recovery. The neurologist agreed that, with the meds starting to improve things, there is no hurry to do the surgery. We are going to look for at least one second opinion, preferably from someone who uses one of the other techniques (through the neck or side). I could see the visible improvement in her eyes during the tests. She will increase the meds again and see if she can get more improvement out of them.

Tomorrow I've got a long list of home chores including the dreaded lawn mowing. For now I'm off for a nice long walk to stretch everything back out. Then a frittata for dinner (spiral squash, goat cheese & fresh dill) with raw kale salad and a quiet evening on the porch with, of course, a glass of wine.
