Question possibly faulty batteries...

So I get on the scale this morning and it says I've gained 6lbs... In 24 hrs. I dont think that's even humanly possible. I've stuck to my diet all weekend. Even Monday for my sons bday I had a bowl of cereal for breakfast, an Orange and some soup for lunch and two slices of Chuck E Cheese pizza (mini slices) and barely two bites of cake and a salad.. I worked my butt off yesterday at the gym and still gained 6lbs since yesterday. I'm starting to think my scale has faulty batteries, or something. Is this normal? The only difference from last week is this Is the first time i exercised in 3 days.. does that matter?!

I've gained 6+ pounds before from salty food, a very intense workout, digestion being off...etc. A one day fluctuation up several pounds is not a big deal if you know you've been on plan. (Although do you know the calories of what you ate? It definitely doesn't sound like enough to gain 6 pounds, but some things will shock you by the calorie info.) Just keep sticking to your plan and ignore the inevitable ups and downs. The overall trend over months is what matters.

You could also check the batteries in your scale. When the batteries in my scale become weak, it messes with the weigh-in big time.

So my DH will check the batteries, change them if needful, and life returns to normal.

It is possible to be up 6 lbs, but it doesn't mean anything. Your Monday food sounds pretty salty and carb-rich. Both take water to process. If your muscles or joints are sore from working out, they can also retain water. By all means check your batteries if you think it might be the problem, but my guess is if you stick to it another day or so, all that weight will be gone.

Thank you all for the advice. It was very helpful. Im definitely going to stick to my plan. I try to eat anywhere between 1200-1400 calories a day & work out. So it was a little discouraging. But I'm not giving up. I'm going to try to change the batteries and see I'd that helps, because I was excited to lose that weight.. ha!

duhitskriss - Did changing the batteries make a difference? Please also be aware that exercising after being at rest for 3 days can easily make the scale show inaccurate numbers the next day as well. The muscles expand and hold in the water fluid and that is totally normal. The ironic part is if you drink more water, it flushes it better This is something I, too, had to learn. I have done programs as a teen with people that were supposed to design a program specifically FOR me and have not had the success or education I have this time, on this journey... it's amazing to me the wealth of knowledge. It has also made me not panic so much about the scale
