Discovered a new way to motivate myself

  • I found a new way to motivate myself to stay on track today. I was hungry after lunch and wondering how I would ever make it to dinner. Suddenly I reached down and grabbed a double-handful of fat from around my waist and thought how nice it would be if that were all gone.

I'm pretty sure after the experience that I'm safe until dinner.
  • Hahaha OMG That made me chuckle!
  • That's very funny! But, don't you eat snacks? I know I couldn't make it till dinner no matter how much fat I could grab onto!
  • i HAVE to snack....letting myself get too hungry or going too long between meals/snacks will absolutely trigger the urge to binge and/or make the worst choices in food *sigh*
  • Lol, too funny!
  • Haha, that sounds like what my husband said to me yesterday - "I brought the mirror into the living room while I worked out yesterday. I'm going to be REALLY SORE tomorrow!"
  • That reminds me of something I read years ago about some actress that would put on a bikini if she felt the urge to overeat/binge. I am pretty sure she had an eating disorder though...
  • lol. That's funny. Does drinking water help with your hunger? I've found that drinking more water makes me less likely to snack too much.

Yeah, my main staple snack for mid-afternoon is a Pop-Secret 100-calorie bag of buttered popcorn. I supplement the trace amounts of butter (!) with some butter-flavored spray Pam (ehh - it makes it a little tastier). It's a lot of bowl-to-mouth food, so my brain, I believe, thinks it's a mini-meal.
  • Just goes to show how different we all are........ Lately I am making a conscious effort NOT to do this to myself. Grabbing on to my fat as motivation was just making me feel worse about myself! The handfuls didn't change in size or shape from day to day so it just made me feel like my efforts were worthless. But if it's working for you, more power to ya!
  • Yeah, I thought the research indicated that positive motivation is much more successful (and pleasant!) than negative, shaming motivation. I'm with Abluvion--I'd rather imagine success and strive towards it than focus on my present fat state!
  • That would motivate me to feel terrible about myself and want to die!
