Default PCOS breakthrough bleeding when on a diet?!? help

Ok, so I'm not on any form of BCP or metformin(it makes me gain weight) and I'm steadily loosing 3-4lbs a week I exercise 2 time a day and eat low-carb. I had my DD 11weeks ago but my PP bleeding stopped after 6wks then got a period and from that point on I'm bleeding on and off like 1 week of nothing then next week bleed for 5 days. I've been to my OB and they reccommend i get on the BCP to stop it, (that its my ovaries acting up) the only problem is BCP makes me gain weight and I'm scared to go on it. So my questions is for those of you who are not on bcp do you get breakthrough bleeding? is it from the diet and my hormones going crazy? I'm at a loss of what to do and I really want to continue loosing weight. FYI If i'm not dieting i get a period maybe once or twice a year.

thanks for any advice!

Fat cells store estrogen so when you lose fat, estrogen is released and can definitely cause issues such as bleeding.

What kind were you on?

I went on a mini pill while nursing to help but I cannot remember know which one it was. I was feeling CRAZY awash in all the hormones from pregnancy and then nursing. I didn't gain weight on that. I actually was down to pre-pregnancy weight within 3 weeks of birth. What started the gain was toddlerhood!

There's a thread around here for BCP for PCOS people -- make sure you get the right type for you if you decided to try it again.

You can also check in with a naturopath or hebalist to see if there's other remedies or if progesterone cream instead is better for you. It depends really on why you are bleeding.

GL!
