Default Ugh...frustrated by gain!

I joined ww three weeks ago (although this is not my first time ) and had done well - down 8.2! Well, today I weigh in and I am UP 2.2. I have to say I was shocked because I have been on plan all week! Here is what I do know....
  • I have not been drinking as much water as I should (mostly zero calorie soda and tea)
  • I only exercised once this week
  • I truly, truly have been focused with my points - even when going out to eat.

Any thoughts or advise?

Sometimes our bodys dont want to change and will fight us. & also from what I remember from the biggest loser & other diet experts telling me, usually the 2nd week is the hardest week on diet bc usually the 1st week you will see big numbers bc our body is being shocked into eating cleaner, healthier and lighter then before so you will see a big drop 1st week, then 2nd week comes around and the scale wont even budge, only drop 1-2lbs or even GAIN! If you stuck to what you did to drop the 1st 8.2 lbs then there is no reason other then what I was just explaining to you, why your body would gain. Just hang in there it will be OK! Just gotta keep pushing, sticking to it 100% and you will reach your goal. Just keep thinking about how great you are gong to look for the holidays when all your family will see you and you'll be having to pick their jaws off the floor!

for example with me I lost 9lbs the 1st week, .3lbs the next then 4lbs the 3rd week so our body does wacky things but the most important thing is sticking it out

1 piece of advice I would tell you is go easy on the diet drinks, they may have zero calories but in the end they may be effecting your weight loss in a sneaky way. I just read a really good article about how bad that artificial stuff is that they put in diet drinks especially with the new drinks like cokezero and pepsi max, not only do they have aspartame which is really bad for you but now they're adding this other sweetener called Acesulfame Potassium aka Acesulfame K which has been shown to promote cancer and increase insulin in animals. Just bad stuff that I would try to avoid as much as possible.

Good luck and I hope I helped even just a little

Advice? - Stick to plan. In six months, you'll be down a heck of a lot of pounds, and this one incident won't even be a blip on the screen.

One week is not something to worry over. Ever. Weight fluctuates even as we're losing fat. Gaining a couple pounds while we're trying to lose is actually very common, and it could be a myriad of things that ARE NOT FAT.

So, keep your points balanced. Keep drinking water. Keep your activity going. The weight will come off.

If you have a whole month of stalls or gains, then it's time to sit down and comb through your whole program to see what's up.

One week, though? Not anything to even bother being concerned about.

Ditto to the keep going response! Like Lovely said, in six months you will be amazed. It's hard to take it weekly, I think the weekly weigh in's are important, but at the same time don't get discouraged. I was in this same boat just a few days ago when I found this website, and I am feeling much better about things now. I am on week 6 and my weigh in's have been -9, -1, -1, -1, -2
I am just in the mindset of keep going and look at the long term picture.
Also, TOM can be a huge factor! Also depending on what you ate, you could have retained some water even though you were on with your points. It will even back out. Hang in there, and promise yourself to re-read this post in six months

This week marks my 6 months mark on plan. Almost to the day. I have lost 34lbs in that time. I had many weeks where i stayed the same weight, i have had 1 gain in the whole time of 0.5lb. Stick with it, it works.

Thanks for the encouragement! I do plan to stick with the plan, I was just super frustrated this morning!

Funny, I feel as though my head is in the right place this time so I am confident I will be successful!

Thanks again!
