An early morning for me. Not of choice, sometimes it just happens. Unfortunate for Bing, who has endured a shearing on the kitchen floor. He got a Thunderjacket yesterday(which seems to help with his storm anxiety) but it seemed like it would be a better fit with less hair. We went to lunch with mom yesterday and found out that Sunday's storm had blown down a spruce tree in the yard near where we'd been painting. Fortunately, it went the right direction but now we have a new project to add to the list.
Hey Debbie,
Thanks for getting us started up. What is a Thunderjacket? Sorry about the tree...yes, just another project.
Things are SO slow at the moment at work. In a way it's a very good thing, as I do need downtime, but I also find myself wasting lots of time online not doing much of anything. Need to focus...well, yesterday my boss wasn't in, so it was easy not to do much of anything.
On Friday I have an appointment for a baseline bone scan. My mom developed osteoperosis at a relatively young age I so asked my dr. for one even though I'm probably younger than the recommended age for a baseline. I also asked him for a Vitamin D blood level test, although it's recommended not to do that during the summer. I'm trying to approach menopause very on top of my health and what is going on with me.
On tap for today: work, then at lunch I think I'll go to a service at a little church that does a fast lunchtime eucharist, then pick up son. Today will be library day, so we'll go there and then home for dinner and I'll start to get myself organized for this weekend. Hope everyone has a great day today!
Good morning, Debbie. There's always something, isn't there? Tree clean-up is not my favourite task, partly because I miss a tree when it comes down. It leaves a hole in the sky.
I slept right through to five this morning - not even the usual 3 a.m. potty run. Despite the AC my bedroom is a bit warm but the fan and some lavender oil seemed to make me sleep solidly. That's a good thing because today I have a job I hate: sorting out the school work entries for judging on Thursday morning. The upstairs room at the Fair Hall is stifling so I'll go over there as early as possible. I must say that the heat doesn't bother me as much as it did last summer although it's much warmer this year. Losing that 25 pounds may have something to do with it!
My poor garden is parched! We have been hearing thunder but have had no rain for a while. I am going to go out very shortly and hand water the veggie garden, swatting and cursing at mosquitoes and deer flies as I do it. The beans in the raised bed are in flower which means I may have some beans by the end of the week. Those are the morning jobs. The afternoon will be at my desk enjoying the AC as much as one can when working on a tax return and yet another financial report.
I hope your Tuesday is "comfy" no matter what you do.
Good morning, Matilda. Good idea to get a baseline bone scan and kudos for wanting to head into menopause in top health. Your noon break sounds like good stress relief.
Debbie, doesn't it seem that there's always another chore to tackle, just when you think you've caught up? How's Bing doing with his Thunder jacket? We have one for Cindy's dog, Molly, and I'm impressed with how well it calms her down. She would get so frantic and upset whenever she heard thunder and could destroy the room, but now she just curls up on her bed to wait the storm out.
Matilda, that's smart for you to be having those tests done before you start menopause, and give you a great sense of well-being. The Thunder jacket is a snug fitting coat that wraps around your pet, kind of like swaddling it. For some reason, it really calms them down.
Ruth, I'm always sad when a tree is cut down, too. I have a special affinity for trees, and have always been especially fond of them. It's good to know you feel the same. I sure wish I could help with the art work sorting, and make short work of it! Try to stay cool!
The heat index is supposed to reach 110* this afternoon. I'm bringing the girls over here, and Andrea is dropping of Amber & Tyler while she goes to a job interview. We'll spend some time in the pool, and when they get tired of that, I'll send them all down to the playroom to play Wii. I'm supposed to drop the girls off for a playdate and supper with some friends later, and so it should be an early day for me. I'm not sure if Cindy will have polo this evening, it may be canceled because of the heat. I'd hate to be the poor horse in this heat!
Lexiss - great that the thundershirt is working, keep me posted!
Ruth - love the statement - "it leaves a hole in the sky".
Matilda - UGH - I hate it when things are slow at work. I tend to drink coffee and pace a lot! (shhh...I just bought a sudoko book for that purpose too)
Cottage - Hope you get an early day! I agree, that's much too hot for the ponies!
Things are okay over here...it is hot like everywhere else! I'm making the family some pasta salad for supper (I get out of work after 7 tonight), I think I'm having the weekend glow kale salad . Work has been BUSY lately, and thank goodness the computers are back up!
Dawn is breaking...this morning was filled with lots of "discussion" as we plotted our course for the day. It looks like I'll try to organize and clean my mom's garage and arbor this morning. Unfortunately, I can't work on that until 10 so I'll keep myself occupied until then.
Matilda, I'm glad you're doing the bone scan. I never have, although my mom has had OA for years. Enjoy your day.
Ruth, I hope your sorting project goes smoothly. It's amazing to me how much better I tolerate heat as I shed pounds. Sorry about financials...I hope they get finished, too. We don't have many mosquitos here...so glad because they love me. Take care.
Linda, glad you get an early day...it sounds like lots of us have pool envy.
Twynn, so far, so good with the Thunderjacket. He's wearing it now...it fits much better after his trim. You are supposed to let them wear it when it's not stormy so they don't form a negative association. I hope your work day is uneventful.
Good morning. I'm sleepy. My teen got home from his Boundary Waters trip at 3:00am. DH stayed up to wait for him but I had gone to bed. My internal alarm clock woke me around 2:00 though, the time we thought he might roll in, and so I was up waiting too. Managed to get back to sleep for a bit but I think a nap might be in order today
He finally got information from college about moving in. 6 weeks and counting!
I need to get to work on creating procedures, have so much to do that it is daunting just to get started....once I start I am on a roll, it is the starting part
Another scorching day here heat index around 115 again, a person died yesterday from the heat due to no ac in their mobile home.
I am all bloated as TOM is coming and with the heat I am miserable- really wish the scale would cooperate and show downward movement as well- DH and DD1 are saying I look like I have lost some weight and trust me DH wouldn't lie about that....but the scale refuses to budge and it is making me flipping mad....
thanks for getting us started Debbie. sorry you had an early morning! I am a night owl so I don't like getting up early!
I think we've decided to move and to do apartment living (if not for the pool, so pool envy here too!). We've got to find out if we have to give notice on the 15th or the 1st and how much time we need to give (I need to whip out our lease). we have the cruise on Sept. 4, I will be in NM Aug 31-Sept. 1 so I am hoping we only have to give 30 days and we can do it in a few days! Gosh that would be a lot of mushed timing!
Jenn maybe you can find an apartment complex with a pool - the best of both worlds.
Sorry - I wasn't clear. We want a pool and only apartment complexes have them around here so that's a huge reason why we're doing it. Though it looks like we have to give 60 days and on the 1st So we will notify the landlords as soon as they fix our dishwasher...
Great day back at work but with 600+ messages, I didn't get much done but email! Off to try to swim!
