Smile Another Newb, a lot of change!

Hello all!

I've seen 3FC before, but never had the initiative to join (or to ~make a change~, either) until now.

I'm moving from New Orleans to Colorado Springs within a month. This is a big change, of course, and I'm hoping for the better! Being a Southern girl, it'll be my first time ever to be more than an hour away from my family AND I will know absolutely NO ONE (but at least I'll have my puppy!)

Anywho, I've finally come to terms with the fact that my Hurricane Katrina weight will not go away as easily as it came, and it's time for me to make some change! I'm thinking of WW, but alas I will have to do more research before I really settle down with a plan.

If nothing else, I have four months of 3-day weekends to look forward to, and COS supposedly has 50,000 miles of trails within a 10 mile radius of the city. If I want to lose weight, I'll need to be using those up! Unfortunately, I might have a couple (or more) months of being alone before my boyfriend of 6+ years will join me there. I'm just hoping that 3FC and my new lifestyle choices can help me get through this trying time!

Looking back, I see I babbled quite a bit. Oh well!

Take it slow! I have done this (or tried this) plenty of times. I moved from Ohio to California and tried to start a few weeks before, and it did not work so well with all the stress! Good luck and enjoy CO! I always said I wanted to move to Denver

Welcome to 3FC =)

One change at a time. One day at a time. You'll see results as the little things add up over the course of your journey.

Best of wishes!

Thank you for the positive words! Luckily I have a bit of practice with that intense elevation, as I lived up there for last summer for three months and have visited each of the last two winters...but my S.O. lives in a valley that's at 3,000 ft., and I'll be at like, 7,000! Ugh! Oh well, what's a 7,014 foot difference? And yes, my house in NOLA is 14 BELOW sea level. Thanks, levees!

Again thank you all for the advice! It's great to have everyone going through similar experiences and being so supportive of each other -- much unlike how the real world often is. I promise to take it slow, especially considering all these other changes...another reason for my weight gain is all the things I haven't really dealt with that have been bothering me, including that my grandfather who raised me was killed last October. He was a chef, so any cooking experience I've had was with him...so I'm been gorging on disgusting fast food to escape the memories! But this will be a positive experience with food, so it's looking up!
