I hope everyone had enjoyable holidays and that we're all ready to get back to business. I actually prefer routines, these days. We had great fireworks last night and it took Bing most of the night to recover. He looks like he's finally feeling better. We work on the painting project this morning then I'll head to Denver with mom for an appointment. I suppose I'll get to stop somewhere fun while we're there. Other than that...same o same o.
What's happening in your world today? Stop and chat Early or late riser...it doesn't matter...we always enjoy hearing about your day.
Take care...have fun...and stay OP. I'm planning to.
Good morning, Debbie! I hope your mother's appointment goes well and you find something fun to do in Denver.
We had a great day yesterday, but I fell into bed happpy but totally exhausted last night. I think everyone is planning to come back this afternoon to celebrate Dustin's birthday, and it's supposed to be hot and sticky, so the pool will be where it's happening. I'll bring Audrey and Maggie over to spend the day here right after lunch.
I only cheated a tiny bit yesterday with Caitlyn's wonderful Key Lime Pie, but it will feel good to get completely back on track today.
Hi Debbie,
Yes, I'm ready to get back to business. This weekend I was really relatively on plan but drank too much and feel bloated. We've completed the transition to summer: camp, and July 4 weekend is over...time to buckle down. I saw some pictures of myself this weekend in a bathing suit and was pleased with how I looked but I still want to continue to lose. AND, (who else has this problem)for some reason I've lost weight almost everywhere except my back, so now I have all this back fat that looks weirdly out of proportion!
For me today: work, and then home. My sitter was supposed to come clean for us on Friday, but she forgot (I think) and I've got to get in touch with her to make sure she's ok and find out when she can come again because the house is a total disaster. Hope everyone has a wonderful day!
Good morning It's back to routine here too. I'm off to Montpelier for staff meeting. The best thing about staff meeting days is the Montpelier Co-op. It's not better than ours but it has some different stuff so I stock up. This week I'm shopping for grill food because the stove isn't going on after breakfast.
Debbie - Hope the news/information is good.
Cottage - Happy visiting Are you and Caite getting caught up? Bet that pie was worth the bite.
Matilda - Congratulations on a bathing suit picture you like That's almost unheard of for women. Hope your house gets cleaned.
Hope your day is relatively painless and there's a nice breeze where you are.
Cyndi, I am estastic that Caitlyn decided to move back home again, and we're all caught up on the news, but we'll never be caught up on the hugs, lol! I missed that girl SO much. She was our very first grandchild and we practically raised her while my DD and SIL finished college. There will always be a special closeness there.
Matilda, glad you enjoyed your weekend, too, but it does feel good to get back to routine again, doesn't it? I hope all is well with your sitter and she can come to whip your house back in shape today!
Linda, it's sure nice when you can bring the girls over to your house for the afternoon. Great that Caitlyn is back, too! I think it's just great when we can enjoy that piece of special pie then just get right back on track. It didn't used to be that way. Yay!
Matilda, I hear ya on the back thing...I'm working on it, too. I hope work is uncomplicated for you today and that you're back home before you know it.
Cyndi, I love when the best thing about a certain meeting is the extracurricular activity that goes with. lol Drive safe and have fun at the coop.
I've tidied up the refrig/freezer. Now I'd better wake Kirk up so we can enjoy another coffee together before we head off to work.
Good morning and happy 5th of July! When I told a young American friend we didn't have a 4th of July in Canada, she said "So it goes 1,2,3,5?" That was fifteen years ago and she's much smarter now but I think of Angie every year at this time.
Debbie, I hope things go well with your mother's appointment. One of these days, I plan to visit Colorado - I hear it's gorgeous.
Matilda, good to hear you are easing into the summer routine. I'm glad you feel good in your bathing suit - I don't even own one! I hope your sitter does get your cleaning done - I really miss my Donna,
Cottage, having been to your house, I love imagining your family parties and often think of the Thanksgiving I spent with you and yours. Give Oderia and Maggie a hug for me. I can feel your delight about having your oldest grandchild home.
Cyndi, great new avatar! The work of the inestimable Miss Julie? It sounds like you are back at the grindstone with a trip to Montpelier today - 82 miles. I haven't been to Vermont since the 80's and it was winter. I keep checking the map to see where you are traveling and am getting the urge to drive down to see it in summer.
Got lots of varied tasks done yesterday including watering my veggies in the cool of the evening. The late planted beans are up. Now to hope the deer don't discover them. I also have a major crop of black currants about to happen. I'm hoping they will wait until next week so I can get them picked. I'll make black currant jam, I think. It was a favourite of my Dad which is why I planted them in the first place.
Today I hit the road around nine to pick up schoolwork that wasn't ready last week. I just HAVE to have it done by noon as Jazz and I do pet therapy at the nursing home this afternoon. It'll be a hard visit this time as we are working with residents who are suffering from dementia and are observed by a psychiatric nurse who notes reactions. Jazz is very patient but I know it's not his favourite activity.
I still haven't shortened some of my new pants! Maybe later today.
Lots of other stuff on today's plate but I'd rather burn out than rust out!
Ruth - you are closer to Montpelier than I am! It's 199 round trip from here. It's a great little town. It was my second choice Vermont location. Biggest downside is that it's very expensive to live there because of the lobbyists, lawyers and other people connected to the capital. It's nice to visit though
Brilliant day, all. Just sat and watched the ocean for about an hour - my favorite place. Kids will be awake any second now, so just thought I would pop in.
Dolphins have been by twice already, and my children are having a great time with the sea and the sand. DH has been less grouchy now that he is on vacation and finally winding down from the day-to-day job stress. MIL has been ok with letting me do all the cooking, so Sat was turkey meatballs, Sun was chicken cacciatore, last night was steak on the grill - we will certainly have a few nights out while here - seafood twice, pizza twice is usually our MO, so two of those will be OP anyway! The biggest temptation right now is all the fruit. I plan to eat it, enjoy it, and have a week or so of Phase 1 at the end of July to get over the expected return of craving all things sweet.
I hope no one is over-heating, I hope you all have a great week, and I hope my clothes still fit after two weeks!
Linda - Love how you describe the end of your day.
Matilda - Yay for liking how you look in a suit!
Cyndi - My husband hates when I heat up the house with the oven. But I am not giving up my green bean fries!
Ruth - Ah you crack me up. Rust out indeed.
Bea - Sounds fabulous! There is something so soothing about the water, isn't there.
I'm waiting to see if DH will want to bike today; it is very hot and humid but the rest of the week we have conflicts or expect storms. Funny how I never want to get started but once the ride is over I'm always glad I did it. Errands to run too. Nothing exciting.
Ruth, funny story! I hope you do come visit someday...I hope to get your way, too. Yep lots on the proverbial plate. It does keep us young, I think.
bea, your day sounds perfect. Thanks for checking in from vacationland.
Karen, hope you got on your bike!
I've transitioned from painting to getting ready for our trip to Denver. I got my rebounder out of the way and will try for a few more projects before we leave. Lots of bike riders heading by today...aha I was thinking I couldn't bike but I could bike to the library for a little bit (my puzzle is there)...think I will!
Good morning all! Lovely mornings and days planned all around.
I got off track I'm doing phase 1 for a few days to feel a bit more empowered. I got up early to work out this morning, even though I went to bed late. It was hard but I am so proud of myself - exercise has got to be non-negotiable for me.
My nephew came into town (he's 13 and flew by himself) and boy has it been a test!!! First, IHop this morning - I did egg beaters with mushrooms and spinach omelet (no cheese) and a side of turkey sausage (one piece). Then, a few of my favorite stores (most of which sold candy), a walk through the mall with the smell of cinnamon sugar pretzels lurking and then, ordering Georgetown cupcakes (I declined despite tomorrow being my favorite flavor day).
OYE!
No time to do personals as we've got Legos to build but I hope everyone had a safe and healthy 4th/weekend.
