Default Let's talk exercise and weight watchers!

Hey everyone.

So I have (like so may others) lost and gain weight throughout my life. I am now back on the down slide after gaining 30 some odd pounds.

Anyway I have always been the type of person that seems to respond to lighter exercise as to opposed to more intense especially if it's longer endurance. Especially when I pair it with WW and keep my diet in check

For example I lose weight well with walking instead of running. I actually start to gain weight with running. I have done some half marathons several 10ks and a lot of 5ks. I stopes running a few months ago because of an injury. And now I'm pretty much doing a lot of walking outside. I am for a minimum of 10 000 steps a day. And I am doing the Jillian Michaels 30 day shred. I am on day 8 of level 1.

So far I feel really good about that workout. I mean its intense but short duration.so I'm hoping it won't effect my weight loss. Is anyone else here doing it? And if so what are your results, thoughts so far?

Also I walked all day at an amusement park and when I enter roughly the amount of time I walked at a leisurely pace it said 27 points earned?? No way could I count it as that. What would you guys count?

My main work-outs are yoga, or treadmill walking.

I don't "count" stuff that I'd have to do anyways... such as walking around a grocery store, or taking the stairs at my apartment. I figure that's movement and therefore definitely good for me! But, I just don't like adding it up.

I keep my workouts separate from all of that in my head. It's certainly healthy for me, and can indeed help some with weight-loss, but I have separate fitness goals and weight-loss goals if that makes sense.

I do eventually want to be running somewhat regularly (down the road when I won't injure myself with my weight), and I want to add intensity to my yoga sessions as well as add in other different activities altogether.

Since those activities aren't purely for the benefit of weight loss, I don't regulate them thinking about weight loss, just my own abilities. As I am able to do more, I add more, regardless of if it affecting my weight or not. At this point, however, it doesn't seem to matter. Almost anything I'm doing, while using WW to keep my food intake appropriate, is helping me to lose pounds and inches.

This might change as I get closer to goal. At some point, inches, muscle and the general look of my body are going to be FAR more important than the number on the scale. Two people at the same weight can look vastly different depending on exercise and diet. But, that is such a long time from now that any activity or movement I add is good.

I count my "official" work outs. And add in movement whenever possible during my day as icing on the cake.

Hey, Pro..

So, I noticed when I did WW last year (before Points Plus) that I lost weight fast. Like 30 lbs in 2.5 months, and I did basically no exercise. I did P90X for about a week and gave up, so I don't count it.

This time (I started mid-May) I'm doing Points Plus, started yoga at the same time, after a week added body weight routines from bodyrock.tv every other day.. and I lost 10 lbs in 3 weeks. On June 4th I started doing bodyrock every day and I have lost and gained the same 4 lbs ever since. I know part of it was I was miscalculating *some* points, part of it was PMS.. but I really think working out every day was hindering my loss, even tho I can tell I'm getting some stronger, leaner muscles. So while I could be losing fat and gaining muscle (hence the scale not moving), I'm also starting to burn out on working out and I don't ever want that.. so, I'm scaling back to every other day. It will be interesting to see if my loss picks up.

Let us know how things turn out for you, too.
