Hi! I just joined the site because i've learned the more support i have the easier it is for me to lose weight- or stay on the weight loss journey- a little about me:
- i live in the cold state of Alaska- but it just hit summer and I'm trying to take advantage of it (kayaking, camping, hiking... heck even running hills at the local school). I love being active- but at my highest weight (286) it was impossible. i was ALWAYS that girl that held everyone back, people would literally invite me to go hiking with them, knowing they could use me as an excuse if they got tired because i always needed a ton of breaks. I also had pretty low self confidence- i never believed anyone would or could like me. So last January (2010) i decided that i was tired of the excuses and tired of feeling the way i did. I needed a change. So i signed up with a personal trainer and committed that i would no longer use excuses for why i allowed myself to get to 286. Last Friday i hit 214, i definately wouldn't say the weight melted off and i have had my moments where i want to give up on all of this- but being so close to being under 200 is super motivating. I am pretty active now- i work out typically 7 days a week and have realized variety is key to my success- i started going to Zumba classes (so fun!) have ventured into yoga, starting a boxing class soon and then see my personal trainer about twice a week, as well as going to the gym on my own and doing what i can outside. I also eat around 1000 calories a day ( i know that seems like a little, but i eat a lot of healthy things and the calories just don't add up to that much!).
I would love to be able to talk to people who are going through the same thing, whether they hit their goal or they just started, i think it's very motivating for both parties to hear that other people are in the same position. Can't wait to hear from everyone!!
