Default Hey, New girl with 62 pounds ahead

Hi everyone.

Im brand new at this forum thing so please forgive me if I make any mistakes.

Have recently made the decision to try and lose 62 pounds, hopefully within 4-6 months. Have been unhappy with myself for a long time and decided something had to be done. It was fantastic for me to find this forum and know im not alone.

Dieting and exercising dont really scare me, its the not reaching my goals on time and possibly gaining the weight back that really scare me. im a very partucular person and am constantly told I am too hard on myself, even though I dont believe this is the case

Its amazing how the weight creeps up on you and you dont realise until its gotten out of control. But thats why im here and im determind to undo the damage I have done to myself!

I look forward to talking with you all and achieving our goals together

Hello there. I think you'll find a lot of support on this forum -- many people have the same concerns you do about reaching their goals in a timely manner.

Good luck!

You know what leads to gaining the weight back? Thinking you're a failure for not reaching goals on time, and then quitting entirely.

On time for what exactly? Permanent weight loss is the goal. So if you permanently lose 20 pounds by a certain date instead of 40 like you planned, then you succeeded!

In fact, if you're having trouble dealing with xx lbs by xx date, then I suggest you throw that system away entirely. How about instead you deal with goals that you can control 100%? Eat on plan for 7 days. Exercise 3 times a week. Eat all your fruits and veggies today. Drink a few more glasses of water instead of sugary drinks. Etc. Etc. Etc.

Those are all things you can DO. Not things that happen to you.

Sure, we all want to see goal, but what is so easy to forget is all the other benefits of just being healthier. Feeling lighter and fitter. Being able to do more. Having more energy. All things that can begin the very first week of weightloss. Don't ignore those successes!!!!

Always keep at it. Always work towards a new goal.

Best of wishes!
