What a wonderful warm day we have had today. Got some menu planning for next week and had a good OP lunch.
JOYCE welcome back. So glad you had a nice trip and got home safely. Yes that is the soup recipe we have been talking about except the recipe I sent you I added the chopped up onion. I am making that Key Lime Pie when my fat free Cool Whip melts some. It is also real low in points. You probably have that recipe for I got it at a WW meeting. I wish you a good weigh in on Thursday. I know how hard it is to eat others food.
Good Evening, Flowers!
It's been another nice day in my neighborhood; we had a few sprinkles of rain, sunshine, and clouds today! Christmas is packed away for another year and my Good Will pile has grown.
We did have a minor problem today. For quite some time I've been telling DH that the hot water heater had dried "stuff" by the outlet valve. He poo-pooed me and said that since it wasn't rattle - banging when we'd run water, it was fine. Well, I went to do laundry today and there was a rusty puddle on the floor. I did a couple loads and there is quite a stream running down the side of the tank -- still no noise though. I told him he'd better take a look (during the football game, no less) and an hour later we had a river running across the basement floor. So off he goes to buy a new water heater. It never did rattle or bang. He's pretty handy and has installed them before so $156 and two hours later, I am waiting for hot water to finish the laundry. I'm just glad he was home and not gone for a couple days!
Maggie -- THANK YOU! for the recipe and the pie making lesson! I have heard of using wax paper but have never tried it. Do you use the same method to make cut out sugar cookies? They are my favorite and I can't make them either! It sounds like you've had a good day!
Joyce -- Welcome home! It seems like you have been gone a long time. It's hard to stay OP when other people are doing the cooking, especially at holiday time when everyone seems to have extra fattening food around. I'm sure you will be back on track asap!
I need to iron a white shirt for church tomorrow. DH ushers this month and likes to wear white shirts. Have a nice Sunday doing whatever it is you'd like to do!
JEAN that is just too funny that your husband said that the water heater had to make noise.... I never heard a peep out of a dying water heater and the indicator to change is what you saw as far as my plumber friend told me. Refrigerators on the other hand do put up a racket sometimes. Good thing you got it taken care of and it didn't happen when you were both gone. You are quite welcome for the 101 class on pie crust making. Yes I do use wax paper when I make sugar cookies for it makes rolling them out so much easier.
Good Morning, Flowers!
It's cloudy, windy, and cold here today. *shiver* We've been to church, read the Sunday papers, DH is napping in front of the TV with a cat on his lap, and I'm ready to start on another pile of clothes! I have found clothes that I know the kids have not worn since junior high days! I sure don't know why I am still storing them -- they are going for a ride to the Goodwill!
Maggie -- I have been listening for the water heater to rumble and grumble because we've had to replace two of them and they both made all kinds of racket when the water was turned on. When we moved into this house, the water heater was 20+ years old and quietly leaking so we just went ahead and replaced it. That was 19 years ago; guess it's like the furnace man said, "they don't make things like they used to!" I have also read where one should use powdered sugar instead of flour to roll out sugar cookies. I haven't tried that but have sure eaten alot of cookies that tasted like flour! There is a lady in Fort Dodge who decorates cut out sugar cookies right down to the eye lashes on Santa! Her cookies are the yummiest and I think they sell for about $2 a cookie! The frosting is thick and tastes like almond flavoring. I've never bought any by my sister always brings a plate full of goodies at Christmas time. Her daughter likes to make fancy stuff so I just enjoy what she brings. It saves me the hassle of baking and making!
Guess I had better get busy. Tomorrow is "back to school" -- we have so many no school and half days this semester we will be out before we know it. Have a super Sunday!
Like I said before we have 4 seasons out here and this is one of the Summers. It is unbelievable warm today. I am enjoying a nice diet A&W Cream Soday ice cold. Poor Cowboy came down with that cold I had and he preached today anyway and the PA system was out but they could hear him anyway even with his voice a couple of octives deeper. Thing about him, you can't tell he was sick when he was up there. Poor guy.
JEAN you are probably better off not knowing how to make cookies well at this juncture of your life. Sounds like those home made bought ones are scrumptious. I made some this year and cut them out with my lips cutter so they were merry-kiss-mas cookies.
My body can sure tell we have warm weather going on for I am retaining water.
I've been away for awhile but think of you all often. I'm going to try to spend more time with you all. It's always such a pick me up when I get on to chat. Looks like there have been a few more changes to the site since I was here last. Do any of you use the chat room?
Hope everyone is doing well and here's wishing you all a great OP week.
It is a wendy day this day. We won't be going top down when we go to the bank and post office this day. It's got to be 50 miles an hour. Monday brings with it 18 points for me to enjoy. I have onion and celery, which I always add to stuffing, on the stove smelling so good to go in that crock-pot chicken recipe for a first try. Bubbles sent it to me and I will post it here for it sounds sooooooo good.
CROCK-POT CHICKEN & STUFFING
Serves 4 ~ 7 POINTS each
Mix together & place in a sprayed crock pot:
One 6 oz. box of Stove Top Chicken Stuffing
One 10.5 oz can 98% fat free Cream of Mushroom Soup
1/2 can water
Place 4 boneless, skinless chicken breast halves on top.
Cook on LOW for 7 hours.
BRENDA welcome back. It is certainly good to see you here. I haven't even peeked into the chat room here, how is it? Do you like it there? So glad you came to skip down this road to thin once again.
Good Afternoon, Flowers!
It's been a nice day here in my neighborhood. I spent the day at school getting ready for the troops to arrive tomorrow. We had 4 students show up to finish up last semester's work. I was surprised!
If I go AWOL it's because I am switching service providers and computers. I don't know if I'm smart enough to do this or not -- we'll see later tonight when DH gets home to hook up the wires. I tried to transfer some stuff to a disk and my computer wouldn't let me.
Brenda -- Welcome back! It's nice to see you again! I haven't tried this chat room although I have gone into one on another forum. I have trouble reading, typing, and keeping up if there are alot of people in there.
Maggie -- It's been windy here too. I hope Will is feeling better! Beth had a sinus infection after Christmas and different ones from school had the flu during vacation. Knock on wood, we've been lucky so far.
Good evening,
It's cold, snowy and windy in our part of the world. I made some WW Taco Soup this afternoon, which will be tasty whenever my son gets home.
Snow day today Jean, and maybe one tomorrow. The western end of the county is on the western slope of a large mtn., and is higher in elevation than we are, so when we're getting a dusting they're getting 6"! We also are the largest county in WV, and rural, so you can imagine the back roads the buses have to travel. Ain't none of 'em flat or straight.........most don't even have the yeller line in the middle!
Confession time. I got out my WW book from last year, and my total net loss this year was 10.8lbs. Is that ridiculous or what?! Talk about a wake up call! We have weigh in tomorrow, and I'm not looking forward to it! However, now that I"ve had my reality check, I'm back to the straight and narrow.
Bought one of the new stretch bracelets Thursday night. I love it because it keeps me aware of my points. Being the klutz that I am, I snagged the charm on my sweater and that was the end of that! However, all is not lost. I went to WallyWorld today to buy an inexpensive new charm, and the lady showed me some small circle thingies like the larger metal key rings that you can never spread apart to slide on a new key. Anyway, I'm $4.00 poorer, but have a dozen of them, and got my WW charm back on the bracelet...........what a woman
I'll tell you what. You dare not miss a day of checking in, or you miss all kinds of goodies...........like Maggie's pie dough recipe and the ideas for CDs. Our basement is filled with old CD's and tapes my son had in college........we're going to have a heart to heart about them very soon.
Glad the camping trip went well! We loved our camper, even though it was only a pop up. I held on to it for a couple of years after my husband died, only using it once a year. It was never the same without him. When I finally sold it I didn't know whether to send up flares or wear black
Gloria, I talked to my cousin in Putney,VT Saturday AM, and she told me they were expecting snow until tomorrow...........their roads are like ours, too. She said the guy who plows their lane charges one amt. for 12" and under, and almost double that for anything over.
One of my good friends had to put his dad in a nursing home today. He's a bachelor who has a sister and SIL who do nothing. We retired together, and he's my trailwalking buddy. I know he'll be a wreck for awhile. It's the hardest thing I ever had to do.
Just heard the car door slam. Off to the Taco Soup.
Bubs
Well I did everything I had said I would this weekend. Christmas has been put away and the house is clean again. However, the snow we were told we would have never happened. That is not in our area. A few miles away they got as much as 12-18"...it all in the way the wind moves, I guess. Today we went to the movies and saw 'Chicago'. Wonderful!!! We saw the stage play in Boston 25 yrs ago on our 20th Anniversary. It was a surprise to me as we had gone to eat and DH had excused himself in the middle of the meal and later on the way home we sidetracked into Boston and he told me we were to see 'Chicago' and he had just gotten the tickets when he had left the table. It was a special evening and I have never forgotten the show...Jerry Orbach was in the Richard Gere roll. I love musicals and this was done well.
MAGGIE: Thanks for the crock pot recipe, I will have to try it. Hope Will is feeling better. When the kids were small DH did readings in church. DS was heard to say that his father's reading was like the 'voice of God'. DH has a strong and emphatic reading voice. We won't let DS forget his definition!
JEAN: You must be back in full swing now. It is good that you will have a short term due to half days and no school days. Hope you can stay healthy what with all those germs that seem to float around schools.
BUBS: Putney is in another world. When it snows up North it really snows. We have a gentleman who comes by whenever the snow is plowable and he is very nice. He will plow and come back the next day, if necessary, and will also shovel the front stairs and walk all for one price. He is very reasonable and reliable.
BRENDA: Welcome back! I haven't tried the chat room...every time I have looked in there was no one there. I think most people chat later at night.
Gloria in MA.....baby sitting Cam so I will get off and check his homework. Night all.
I made it back! Yipee -- it wasn't as hard as I thought it would be!
Bubbles -- You're having our Iowa snow -- but that's OK! I'm sorry about your friend. My dad's biggest fear was to be put in a nursing home and I'm so thankful we didn't have to make that decision. Taco soup sounds yummy!
Gloria -- Christmas has been put away but my house if far from "clean." I wish I could just wiggle my nose and have it all be magic like on Bewitched!
Maggie -- I don't have the printer hooked up yet so don't lose that recipe!
Good Morning,
Jean, you must be a whiz at Trivial Pursuit to have come up with the twitchy nose on "Bewitched"! That was my sister's favorite show.
We have another snowday.........just enough more, and cold enough to make the roads in town treacherous last night and this morning, so I can imagine what it was like on the back roads.
Gloria,
Where we live is very much like Putney, although we don't have places like Brattleboro right down the road........takes us an hour to go anywhere to really have a choice of decent stores. Thank the Lord for catalogs.
I've been futzing with my online checking acct. all morning. Think I"m finally getting the hang of it.......if I'm not, I may be in trouble
Best get myself moving, we're going to do the year end inventory for WW this afternoon, since there's a snowday and my Leader is off.
Best to all,
Bubs
We still have the HOT Santa Ana Winds and Malibu which is down the coast a little bit is on with the winds making it very hard to fight. For those of you who asked Will is now doing much better. He is a few days behind me and should be back to exact in 3 days. This is a 24 point day for me and I am going to enjoy left over crock pot chicken and lots of veggies and fruits among whatever else I chose to fill in my day.
BUBBLES you graduated to senior status by the number of posts you have made is all. If you notice you and Jean are the senior members here for Gloria and I have changed ours to a personal choice saying. That is good you got that wake up call. Now if you don't forget that feeling when you realized it thoughout this year it will stand you well. That bracelet should help keep your FOCUS. I know when I wear my charm bracelet I have a constant reminder of what I am supposed to be about in my program. Thin Within is always with me to remind me. You are brave to bank on line.
JEAN your winds are COLD and ours are HOT. These winds put a layer of dust on everything including bodies fresh from the shower making that shower not last long at all. Look like you got switched without a hitch.
GLORIA do try that crock-pot chicken for it is real tasty and so easy. I cut the left over chicken up in chunks and mixed it in with the dressing for a re-run and will serv it with sectioned thagerines and a lettuce salad.
BRENDA I went to the chat room last evening and had a grand time chatting with some ladies from other threads. Interesting. Maybe I will run into you there one day when I go back. Do you ever turn on your MSN anymore?
It's a dull cold day here but for a Tuesday I guess that's OK. Like to save the sunny days for the weekends.
I've gone to the chat room a couple of times but it's always empty. I guess it much busier in the evenings, I'll have to try it out then.
I'm going to have to try out some of the receipes that you are all posting, they sound very good.
I've got my first weigh-in of 2003 tonight. Not quite sure what to expect. I will have a new leader since my original leader wanted to keep Tuesday night as a Traditional meeting but they want to make more money so they split it in two express meetings. I hoping everyone writes letters to Weight Watchers so we can get our meeting back that way it has always been. Time will tell.
I don't really use MSN messenger at work anymore although it is on my computer at home. I just don't signon in the evenings very often..... being on the computer all day is sometimes more than I want. I do have yahoo messenger at work so if you ever set that up on your computer we could chat a bit during the day.
Well, thanks everyone for the warm welcome back and I'll let you know how I made out tonight with my WI.
