Default 50-60lbs to lose! Anyone looking for a weight loss buddy to give/receive support!

Hey guys,
So I have 2 problems! I cannot seem to stop snacking at night! I can eat healthy light meals during the day, but when nighttime comes around I cannot seem to stop snacking! I've been on weight watchers since the Sunday before last and I've lost 7.5lbs with the combination of that and working out 3-4 times a week, and thank God I'm finally out of the 190's.... But for some reason I get really hungry between 9-11pm... It doesn't help that my family eats dinner between 8-9 every night. I really would like to start not eating after 6 as I've heard thats a great way to lose weight. Does anyone have any tips?

Also, since buying a scale a couple of weeks ago, I cannot seem to stop obsessively weighing myself. I jump on the scale like 4-6 times a day, which is so not helpful! I really do not want to get obsessive again, as I was in high school when I was 130-140.

Basically I really want to do this right! I want to keep the weight off. Does anyone have any advice? I'm 24, 189 right now, and my goal is 135. Anyone else in my boat?? I'd love a weight loss buddy to keep in touch with.

Many of us have trouble with night time eating. I would advise going to sleep earlier and getting up earlier. That's what I try to do.

Hey BabyGotBack123, I am looking for a weight loss buddy too, with similar goals as you. I am 194 as of this morning, 5'7 and looking to get around 150. I also live in San Francisco and my family is in Redwood City, super close to you I too have trouble snacking or overeating in the evenings and obsessing over weighing myself! UGHHHH! I have regulated myself to weighing in once a day but that gets frustrating at times. I am still fairly new to this sight so I will try to message you and then go from there. Looking forward to getting to goal!

I would stay away from the scale and only weigh once a week. Pick one day and stick to only weighing on that day. If you weigh yourself and don't see a loss then you will get discouraged and we don't want that. As far as eating at night I would keep some type of sugarfree candy on hand or drink some water at that time. I don't know which program you are on but usually there is some type of "free" food you could snack on perhaps a salad of some sorts. Try putting your focus on something else besides eating or being hungry you are just used of being hungry around that time because you might be seeing others munching. Try reading a book or even get online and do a few post, keep your mind occupied with something else.

add her to your buddy list or look at her profile and send a private message. She may not accept them though

Welcome to 3FC!

You might want to try putting the scale in a place that is difficult to get to. While certainly if you want to weigh yourself you'll do it no matter what, but if it takes extra effort you may be more likely to weigh yourself less frequently.

As far as late night snacking is concerned I've also heard that you should stop eating within 3 hours of your bedtime, so if you don't go to sleep until 11pm it's perfectly reasonable to have something to eat around 8pm. I think it's important to learn how to listen to your body's hunger signals and moderate your eating accordingly. If you are consistently hungry around 8pm you may not be eating enough at your dinner meals. If you're just snacking and not hungry maybe you can recruit your family to help you stop snacking? I think household support is one of the largest parts of the weightloss journey.

Jess- Thanks for the reply! I'd love to private message but this is my second post and I have no idea how!! Good luck with everything though, we can talk here, maybe?

Wuv- Great advice... I'm obsessed with my Kindl so I should really read more in the evenings. I do weight watchers, so I do have an official weigh day, Sunday, but I'm still tempted to weigh myself more. That just gets me into my unhealthy ED thoughts though which is not good.

Patootie- Thanks I'm so glad to have found this place! My whole family is in this weight loss mode right now. My dad's lost like 15lbs in the last month, my mom started the trend last year and she's down to 130lbs and super toned for a 60 year old. They both work out 4-5 days a week, it was really motivating for me. If they can do it, so can I right? And my brother is down to 150 which is like close to my goal. So I'm the last one to pick up and start getting healthy!

I went through some tough emotional stuff and big life changes... Last year I stopped drinking and other stuff and that became my biggest priority so excersizing went out the window. It feels awesome to get back to it. Endorphins are just amazing.

Thank you all for your suggestions!!! What have your experiences been like so far?
