Talking New Member over 100 gulp pounds to lose

Hi. Just joined. As I said I have over a hundred to lose. My ultimate goal is to get into the "Healthy" BMI zone. I am not actually 100% sure about my weight. I just know I am wearing a 24W and measure approx. what I did when I have weighed about 277 in the past. Hmmm... my finger does not like to hit that "2" ON THAT 277! Even my fingers are weight delusional! I am a reverse anorexic. I never see the fat on me until someone has the gall to snap a picture of me. I attribute that to my superior power of self delusion. Anyway, I am not getting on the scale this go round. I obsess on the number and get depressed when I feel like I am sacrificing and not getting scale results (even if the pants are getting looser). So my real goal is to be a normal size 12 0r 10. But I am more concentrating on small goals like losing the strange bit of blubber that has moved in right above my pubic area. Not pretty. Next the pouches I have developed in my jowls that are big enough to store enough nuts for winter for a herd of squirrels. I am not sure after that. One day I want to cross my legs nicely again. Maybe a bra with only three clasps?

I have joined here because the people here seem nice and supportive and there is a surprisingly giant reservoir of good and helpful diet information here. I also wanted to see some of the goal pictures. It is so nice to see that. To know it is possible. To feel really good for someone who has accomplished something that is really really hard to do.

OK, see you around. I suspect I will be here for a very long time before I post any goal pics. Luckily I have a really nice before pic. I will save it for comparisons later... when I can cross my legs. Right now my legs are holding up that pelvic pouch I was talking about. Sigh.

Haha, oh my goodness. You are too funny! Well, you are on the right track and this is a great place to be for support and motivation as well as just sharing and talking. I look forward to seeing you and your witty posts around! Welcome!!

Oh, by the way there's a whole thread on the under pouch where some of us feel as if we could carry a baby kangaroo in it lol. I forget the name of the thread but you made me think of it lol. I believe they called it a FUPA? lol

Buttercup,
FOUND IT! OMG I am at once revolted, laughing and warm with a sense of perverse camaraderie! I cannot believe it has a name! Thank you for the heads up on FUPA (bleck) and for the welcome. I am inexlicably drawn to that thread (it was all the peculiar/sad/revolting/funny/odd things associated with being morbidly obese. 250+ posts should keep me busy!

Welcome.
I LOVE your sense of humor. I know for myself, that's what gets me through
the day sometimes. This site is AWESOME. There is so much insight and information it's mind blowing and as you have found out already, you can
read about anything here cuz we are all here for the same reason.
I did the same thing with the scale. Didn't weigh myself for the first 3 months. I didn't want to get wrapped up in the "numbers game". I have
tried that and didn't like it. "This time" I am doing this not as a "diet" but as a lifestyle overhaul. I am learning to eat healthy in a way I can do for the
rest of my life. I noticed the loss with the way my clothes fit but more importantly, how I felt. I have made a COMITTMENT to MYSELF to do this.
I think of it as a "have to" not an option. People on this board have done it, so I know I can too. And you will too.
So kudos to you for taking the big first step and I am so with you on the scale thing!!
Good luck and remember YOU CAN AND WILL DO THIS!!

Welcome ^^

Be sure to post wherever you're comfortable. You aren't the first person to have to lose over 100lbs, and, well. I'm in the same category.

It's very possible to take steps towards being healthier and dropping the weight in the process.

Best of wishes!

Great Post! Good luck to you! Find what works best for you and stick with it. Personally I just log all my food and exersise. I think calorie counting is the best approach. I use this free program called lose it! for ipod and pc if you want to check it out.

I am also with all of you of having to lose over 100lbs, I want to lost 135lbs to be exact. Once I get to that goal I will determine if I want to lose more or not. I would weigh what I did 24 yrs ago and I would be good with that size. Stay positive and look on the bright side, you have made a step to becoming healthier, take baby steps at first if you need to but just as long as you keep taking those steps you will see results!
