Talking Letting It Go!!

Good afternoon ladies and gentleman,
My name is Katharine Drake. Four years ago my husband died at the age of 28. In the three months following his death I pretty much inhaled anything baked or fried. I gained FIFTY pounds in three months. I know, I have an excuse. It's hard to loose a spouse...blah, blah, blah. I've made all the excuses but the fact is I ate the weight. I need to loose the weight. So four years later and I'm ready to move on and loose the weight. I've started working out (something I haven't done since I was probably ten) and eating better (something I've NEVER done!) I've lost five pounds in about two weeks, yeah me! But then I fell off the wagon and gained seven. I need support ladies and gentlemen. I need someone to say, "Katharine put the doughnut down and back away from the Krispy Kreme."

Seriously, I am very sorry for your loss. You are correct it was an excuse a damn good one in my opinion. But, the best thing about that excuse is that you're now ready to not use it anymore. And that is a huge step. I am so extremely glad to see you here! You will find the motivation here, it's fantastic! And I bet other people who lost a spouse or someone equally as important will share as well.

You let it go, we'll be here to help you do it! You will love this place. Welcome!!!!

And congrats on starting, that's the hardest part other than sticking to it! I have to mix things up and do things different. And if you change your diet- stick to something you can stick to! Whatever you will stick to is the best way to start! So you're on the right track!

I'm very sorry to hear of your loss. Comfort food is an issue for almost every single person on this site, so in that you aren't alone.

You can take control, though. Exercising more, eating healthier... that's all it takes. (I say "that's all", but it's not always that easy, and every person here knows it.)

Commit to something this week. One thing you know you can do. You like to exercise? That's great. Do some form of exercise each day this week. Walking, or going to the gym, doing a DVD. Something.

Then after this week? Commit to it, again. Schedule it in.
