Default New to calorie counting

Hi all,

My name is Dana. I posted in the introduction thread, but thought I would say hello. Years ago I lost over 30 pounds on SBD. I enjoyed the daily input from the SBD chicks. When I got motivated this time, I just couldn't wrap my head around the SBD lifestyle again. I had the Loseit app on my phone and began playing with it. I joined a gym. So, I find myself being a calorie counter. I have tried journaling many times in the past. I was just too lazy then. That was before the ease of having a computer in my tool belt. Just paper and a calorie book didn't work for me. I'm in my fourth week with the Loseit app and getting back to the gym and I am down 7 pounds.

I am 39. I am a single SAHM to an eight year old son (with Aspergers) and a four year old daughter(my little diva). I have hypothyroid and PCOS. I am a junk food junkie and do not like a lot of fruits and vegetables. But,I'm ready to try to lose weight and get healthier. I am the only parent my children have and want to be there for them for a long time.

I look forward to reading and gaining knowledge and ideas for my new journey.

HI Dana,

I'm Rachael. I have the lose it app on my phone and I'm logging and journaling. I started this new lifestyle change last week and I'm down 5 pounds. I'm excercising an hour or so a day, drinking 100 ounces of water or more and making some healthier food options. I did cut out carbs for this first 2 weeks of my plan. I'm following a wellness guide from a doctor.

I think you're able to do it if you're ready! The forum helps alot with motivation and staying on top of things. Goodluck to you.

Welcome and good luck ! i found that calorie counting worked best for me although I had tried many other diets. Calorie counting will teach you how to maintain your weight loss , it is a much more flexible option than some other diets. I wish you well on your journey to good health. You have made a good start. keep it up !
