Default Hello - Grad Student

Hola chicas!

I've been lurking around these forums for a while now and decided to finally join in with you. I am a 24 year old graduate student, wannabe librarian and honestly very frustrated. On January 20, I started this weight loss journey. Since then, I have lost a whole three pounds... I found this site because I need help/advice/direction. I am on week eight of the C25K program. Last night I ran a 25-minute interval when just a few weeks ago I was convinced that the 1-minute intervals would lead to my death. I am making progress. I have overhauled my diet, completely given up pop, and still can not lose weight. I'm here looking for support. I am doing something wrong in this process and I need to find out exactly what that is. In return, I can offer a positive attitude, an optimistic outlook, and I'm a pretty darn good cheerleader.

Stats:

SW - 232
CW - 229
GW - 150

5'7

Welcome!
Sounds like you have the exercise down. What food plan are you following? How many calories are you eating per day?

Hi!

I suppose that might help to know.

I'm trying to follow the Paleo diet, not super strict, mostly focusing on clean eating and cutting all the processed junk out. I'd like to go organic but that's not budget-friendly right now. I'm tracking food on livestrong.com and shoot for 1500 per day.

Nice to "meet" you!

Where in Nebraska do you live? I am from the cornhusker state too!

I have not heard of the Paleo diet, sorry. 1500 calories for you height sounds right. I am shorter so I keep my calories just a tad lower 1300-1400.
I hope someone with more knowledge comes along and can help you. I know there are all things of things you can try, cut out carbs, limit the fat intake and such.
Are you drinking water?
Best of luck!!!

Go Huskers!

I just moved to Lincoln a few months ago. So far, it's been great.

I'm drinking coffee in the morning, at least 50 ounces of water at work, then a few more bottles when I get home.

Sounds like you are getting the water in.

I work in Lincoln (at UNL) but live in Bennet, which is about 15miles outside of town. Too funny that you 'meet' people on the net from your own town.

Sorry I do not have more answers for you. Hopefully, someone will come along with the magic answer to get the scale moving. It looks to me like you are doing the right things.

I'm not too familiar with the paleo diet, just that it is low carb. You may want to post a sample of what you eat in the carb counters forum (or even the calorie counters forum since you're doing that as well) and ask for feedback. Also, are you measuring inches lost as well as weight? Sometimes the scale won't budge but you're still losing inches/gaining muscle.

As a fellow grad student I know how hard it can be to balance everything with the work/study load of grad school and I wanted to wish you the best of luck!

Welcome! Hook up with the Paleo group here, perhaps they can help.

Best wishes!
