Default Looking for a solution

Hello! I am a college student, and have been struggling for some time now. I have this problem where I cannot stop binging, and it is getting worse. I am on a meal plan, so I attempt to eat healthy foods, but I am so tempted. I buy bags of chips and eat them all in one sitting, and I just can't stop myself. If I don't buy food to snack on, I will end up eating my roommate's food. I have literally no self control, but that's why I joined this forum! I'm looking for a solution to control my binges. And I need to get motivated to exercise as well.
My biggest problem is that my college does not have alot of healthy food choices. Sure, there is a salad bar, but the lettuce is wilted and not too appetizing. Also, only apples (which I hate) and full-fat yogurts are available. I'm almost thinking I should just wait until I get home for the summer before I even attempt weight loss.
But for now, any advice on controling the binges is wanted!

Welcome! I have a problem with night time binging and so I have stopped buying cookies and other high calorie snacks and try to keep healthier options available, however, I am older than you so I can control what food I have in the house. It is hard to stay away from the chips and stuff and I know that once I start, I cannot stop either.
There is a group on this board called "chicks in control' it is deals with binging. Be sure to check that group out, they may have some great tips for you.
Best of luck on your weight loss journey!

First, let me say two things. One, I am new to these forums. Two, you can stop the binge eating and lose weight. I know because I have. There was a time when no bag of chips or cookies was safe in my house. I don't know if I ever felt worse (about food) than when one of my kids would come home from school and ask for a snack that they knew was there in the morning. I want you to know that I didn't find help in any diet plan. My road to a healthier life started with a short book from the self-help section. The book is The Magic of Believing by Claude Bristol. Two tips from the book are 1) Carry around a business sized card with your ideal weight on it (in the book it is whatever you want most in life) look at this card first thing in the morning and last at night. Look at it often throughout the day. 2) Use the mirror technique. Look yourself in the eye in the mirror. Talk to yourself about how strong you are and how you are going to lose the weight. Tell yourself that you are going to control your eating.

There is more in the book but I will leave it to you to read. Because of this book I put more mirrors in my house. I changed the way I thought about a lot of things. I changed the way I talked to my children. I started reading every book I could find on motivation and self-confidence and that is what changed my life.

Good luck. I hope this helps.
