Default Here I Go Again....

Hi, Everyone!

I found this website a few years ago, and had great success (to the tune of about 50 pounds). However, when life took some crazy turns, so did my weight, so here I am, back again, hoping to lop off 110 pounds (yikes! Just seeing it in print is imposing!).

I'm an "older" single mom (of an eight-year-old girl) and full-time student (I've gone back to finish a long-overdue B.A.). Being a low-income, single parent has many challenges, but we're doing fine. My daughter is healthy, my grades are good, now I just need to start working on the weight thing.

My biggest issues are the fact that I don't have the time to exercise (I study from 8:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m., go to bed at 11:15 p.m., get up at 4:40 a.m. to study more, and then it's off to the races!), and I don't really have a kitchen in which to prepare and cook. I am open to any and all ideas, and can really use the support, as we don't have much.

Thank you, All. I used to post to the Canadian Chicks page; are they still out there?

Go, Sox!

Hey there and welcome (back!)

I'm a fellow student and I'm due to graduate this summer, which means I'm balancing exam revision, my dissertation (12,000 words!) and weight loss! I tend to squeeze in exercise and go running first thing in the mornings and then come back and study for the rest of the day. It's annoying because I'm not doing as much exercise as I would be under normal circumstances but I am managing to lose weight (and inches!)

I think you need to incorporate exercise into a break from studying, even if it is just an hour in the day, broken up into two parts, 30 minutes before you start working and maybe 30 mins before lunch or something. right now my hour in the morning is the only thing keeping me sane!

what kind of things have you got kitchen wise? In first year I didn't have a lot of facilities so I bought an electric wok which was brilliant to cook on. It was free standing and I could boil pasta and rice or I could fry things. I know it isn't much but it definitely helped. I could boil noodles, take them out and then stir fry some veg and add in the noodles again. same with things like spaghetti bolonese.

Best of luck,

Hi! Thanks so much for the advice! I did just buy an electric wok, and didn't even think about being able to boil water and such - brilliant!

I would desperately love to be able to get out for a quick run (ok - walk!), but I'm a single parent of an 8 year old, so I can't leave her alone while I get out. I think your idea of breaking up exercise is a good one, even if it means sacrificing study time (fortunately, it's almost the end of the semester, so I'll probably have more time!).

It's good to know that you've been making steady progress - keep me posted!

Go, Bruins!
