Even after all this time, still somewhat confused about CC.
So today I'm 164, only 3 pounds away from 161 (again, yaay.) I use livestrong. Other websites have just been too confusing for me. But anyway, If my weight changes, I add it onto the weight tracker, and that changes how many calories I get. So it's basically like calorie cycling all the time, right? Is this....good...bad? Any idea?
Like earlier in the week I was at 1100 calories, today I'm at 1343. That's the most I've eaten in a while (I think the highest ever after calorie counting was 1477). I think I might have not been eating ENOUGH lately. My net calories are really low, in the 800s usually. Have I gone off track and not realized it? Is this unhealthy? (Livestrong, apparently, gives you extra calories when you work out. I hardly ever use them, and if I do it's only about 100 extra.)
I'm 4'9''
164
I'm just concerned, should I not input my weight again until I get to 161? I didn't realize I was basically calorie cycling until today.
Sorry if this post is incredibly stupid, and I'm sorry I post so much ><. I'm still not the brightest crayon in the box when it comes to being healthy, and don't want to blow my chances at getting where I want to be. When I gained 7lb back, I thought, oh, not too bad, but LOSING it is definitely NOT easy and something i DON'T want to do again.
I only change my weight once a week, but my calorie counts do not go down that drastically. For instance I lost 1.5 lbs this week and my calories dropped by 10. Since I began 23 pounds ago, my overall calories have only dropped by a little over 100, so I am curious why your recommended calorie range would change by 250 calories in a week.
Calorie cycling is not a bad thing, so I wouldn't worry about that. My recommended calories to lose 1.5 lbs a week is around 1200, but some days I eat more, and some days I eat less, as long as I am at target at the end of the week, I am happy. I was especially happy on Saturday when I indulged in Chinese food and still ended the week on plan and with a 1.25 loss :0)
Maybe it was because I used to have it set on lose 1.5lb? I realized I just couldn't do that though and switched to lose 1lb a week. Maybe I should only update my weight thingie once a week instead of every day, but still write down my daily weight?

Ahhh, yes that would explain the big calorie change. 1100 is low for 161 pounds. When I weighed 163 and had my counter set to lose 1.5 lbs, my calories were just over 1300, but I use a different calorie counter, not Livestrong. Right now it suggests 1194 calories to lose 1.5 pounds a week, for 2 lbs a week 944 (yikes!).
So, the change in target weight loss goal is responsible for your big calorie change, not the three pound difference.
I personally don't care for how livestrong figures out calorie allotments so I use acaloriecalculator.com. I like it much better, especially since it shows BMI and BMR right with the calorie allotments. Also, I don't recall if I read this somewhere or if I just made it my guideline but I change my calorie allotment for every 5 pounds lost.
I'm going to check acaloriecalculator.com out just in case. When I get to 159lb, maybe I'll give it a try. I just have a feeling livestrong isn't working/figuring as well as it used to.

They changed how they calculated allotments a few months ago. I went from an allotment of like 1550 to 1150 and I didn't change how many pounds I wanted to lose per week. That turned me off to their way of calculating. I love the tracker and it's features though! Can't live without it!
Is it a manual calc, or can you actually join and punch in and search what you ate? If I have to, I will do it manually, but it's a lot easier and I'm more likely to do it if it's easy as pie. (mmm..pie...lol)

It only gives the calorie allotment. I then take that number and override my allotment on livestrong.
