Default Steel Magnolias #15

Good morning girls. As you can see, it is early again. Fortune got me up at 3:30 having to go outside so I decided to just stay up for the time being. Maybe catch a small nap later on today, who knows? I decided to go with the flow and do my posts in color and larger font. I think that Jean and Maggie's are easier to read than mine sooooooo

Well, guess we aren't going to go to the murder mystery dinner in Branson after all. The tickets are $45 apiece, which is ok, but the food is stuff we, (insert JACK here,) won't eat so there is no reason to spend that kind of money. I don't know why they don't have either a choice, a buffet, or something more palatable to a larger group. They are having pesto chicken, which even I don't like, fettucine alfredo, salad and wedding cake (as the "murder" is a wedding.) That's ok, we can just get into town and relax and swim and maybe do a bit of shopping across the street at the mall or something.

I am making "Faye's Stuff" for dinner tonight. We haven't had that in quite awhile. I already have half a big onion chopped in the fridge from dinner the other night when I made something else so don't have to do that so it will be a quick think to fix up. I think I will put on a couple rolls to rise to go with it and rice to go under it.

I finally got the downstairs cleaned and will start to tackle the upstairs today. I may have to break it down into a couple days to get it all done, but then it will be all clean until the next time we breathe on it I guess!

Darn, my Ipod had to be "restored" on Itunes and it dumped everything I had in it because it wasn't purchased songs, but stuff from CD's. The only thing it reloaded were the few songs I purchased to make ringtones. Bummer, I had a Harry Potter book on there that I use when I can't sleep. Puts me right to sleep every time. Ahh well, Jack will just have to show me how to put stuff back on it I guess.

Jack is still sore, but the back is getting better. He went to bed a bit earlier than usual last night so I am hoping he got a thorough night's sleep and wasn't disturbed by his back. I know Fortune was a pistol last night now staying on the bed.

Susan: Hope your day is coming along fine. When do you start your training for the WW job?

Gail: Keeping my fingers crossed and good thoughts for Wayne and his job interview. It sure is tough later in life to find a job, that's for sure and there are more of us than anyone else these days. My brother is an electrician for FORD in Illinois and he says they have a lot of work now that his plant makes stuff for the new explorer and they are flying out of the plant. He can't believe it considering the thing starts at $35,000 and people still aren't in good shape economically, but someone is buying them. Sounds like you had a good time visiting with your dad's. Both Jack and I's dads died in their 50's so have been gone almost 40 years. His mom died in her 50's too and my mom passed away in her early 70's. On the other hand, my grandfather was near 90 when he passed away.

Jean: I am strictly a sour cream and butter kind of gal. Once in awhile I will get one loaded with the bacon and cheese, but that is very, very rare. I actually like baked potatos pretty much over anything else and I eat the skin! I know most people leave it, but as long as it hasn't been burnt, I will eat it. I know what that EMT means. I have been in some really ghastly homes. I used to have a day care in my home for a year or so back in the mid 80's and once had to take a set of brothers home because their stupid mother never came to get them or something like that. Anyhow, drove all the way to Millington and took them into the house and UGH is all I can say. It was filthy, cluttered and nasty smelling. You couldn't even sit down anywhere, though I was afraid too anyway. It was revolting and those poor babies lived in that.

Maggie: Did you get my email about the "digging" suggestions? My dog was never a digger unless you count when he get to pawing like crazy at the couch! You would swear he had something hidden in the cushions when there is nothing there. He is being lazy and sleeping right now having just eaten.

Well gals, I am going to sit and listen to my audiobook until Jack gets up then get my morning chores done so I can head upstairs a bit later. You all have a great day. We are expecting more rain today and we don't need it at the moment. Faye

Good Morning, Flowers! We have snow on the ground . . . again. It looks foggy as I look across the lake, which is now open water all the way around. I have a meeting this afternoon which is about the same time that school will be letting out; that means the traffic will be bumper to bumper and hard to get out on the highway. The school planners didn't plan, or anticipate, the traffic pattern very well when they built the new school. It doesn't last long but with the idiot drivers in this town it is very frustrating.

"Gma" -- I like your new color and font size. I got up about 3:30 and for some reason thought it was time to get up. When I looked at the bathroom clock and realized what time it was I couldn't get back to sleep for the longest time. When it was time to get up I was more than ready to sleep in. Sorry about your Ipod. What would make that happen? I don't have one so know nothing about them. I eat the potato skin too! I noticed that the guy sprayed Pam on them the other day and I don't know why. They baked them and then kept them warm in roasters. The skin wasn't the least bit hard. I know some people wrap them in foil but I never do that either. I've never made potato skins but have ordered them when we've been in restaurants. Don't work too hard today.

I need to get moving and do a couple loads of laundry. Slowly but surely I am breaking the habit of doing laundry on the weekends. Hope you all have a terrific Tuesday!

Jean -- from Iowa!

Good morning, ladies! It was 30 degrees when I got up at 6 am but is up to 41 now. It's supposed to get back into the 60s over the weekend.

I worked yesterday and have both jobs today. Last night I had dinner at IHOP with 2 of my friends and then we went to church for a lecture on Joan of Arc and her times given by Bill Davis, a professor at William and Mary University. He does a 12 hour class on her in the adult learning section. It was very interesting and we are going to look into the class. My church is St. Joan of Arc so hence the lecture. Dr. Davis had replicas of 3 of the helmets they wore with their armor. Heavy! I'm sure you all know Joan was French so where to you think the Joan of Arc Center is located that has all the papers, etc. on her - Arizona!

Gail, sometime when you come to VA Beach, let me know and I'll come down and have lunch with you. It isn't far from me. Make that anytime before June and after September because I can't stand the hoards of tourists.

Faye, My WW training class is April 30, May 7 and 14. I'm looking forward to it. How is Jack doing? Sorry about the IPOD. It's not hard to reload if you have the stuff on your computer.

Jean, you can keep the snow! I think I told you about the garden center opening a week or two ago - everything is now drooping and half dead. I won't be buying anything there until they restock!

Maggie, I hope you are having a lovely day in the heartland!

Enjoy your day!

Talking Titilating Tuesday

GOOD EARLY AFTERNOON MAGNOLIAS

36 and cloudy ~ feels like 30 here in the Heartland. The thread looks different in a lovely way with a bit of color and large fonts. I didn't sleep well last night so slept in later than usual ~ UGH ~ never lets me feel better when I do that. Looks like several of us had a rough time sleeping. I don't want to think about anything. However, I must for my day is beginning. I am going to make chicken pot pies for dinner with a lightened recipe. I chopped the veggies I want to put in them last evening. I like to put carrots, celery and mushrooms in them. Comfort food we always called it. Wills old laptop had a virus. The shop worked on it for him and even they couldn't find where it was lurking so they dumped everything off of it and gave it a thorough cleaning. Now he is just going to use it to store gun schematics on. He cleans and does what repairs he can on them in his "spare" time. Also all the patterns for holsters that he makes can go on there. Works for him. His new lap top has all the bells and whistles on it. Still doesn't make me want a new one. After I get off of this computer this day I am going to do my exercises. I must force myself but I will get it done. I really don't like to exercise but it is just something I must do. Like some of the classes I had to take in college I just did because I had to. Then after I got my degree I could just pick and choose what classes I wanted to take. I do so like choices. I am going to make some Blackberry Bars this day and get most of them double wrapped and tucked away into the freezer. It is a recipe out of my Splenda cook book and they are 4 points+ each and worth it. I haven't made them in awhile and I think it will put a smile on Wills face! They are great with a fruit bowl.

DONNA FAYE You put some color in your life. How neat. I am so pleased that Jack is somewhat better and will continue now to improve. Thank you so much for pointing me to that web site. They have books that one can download on dog training even. What a nice service they do. I also eat the potato skin. Most of the nutrients are in the skin anyway. I have some bakers that are just a little bigger than a large egg. Little one point+ things which are great to make potato skins with.

JEAN Thanks for the heads up on that article in your news paper. I found it on line and was able to read the article. I am so glad to see they are going to leave the camera on till the babies are born and we can see them. I wish they could leave them on until the little ones leave the nest but I guess it would disturb them in some way. Isn't it neat that folks all around the world are watching those eagles. Be ever watchful of those school kids driving. Some of them don't have a clue.

GAIL Oh I do hope Wayne finds a job that he likes. You also my dear for you are both well trained and will surely find something suitable. What joy to meet up with an old friend that you treasured. You two have a lot of catching up to do.

SUSAN Have you seen both of the Joan of Arc movies? The actress that plays in "Resident Evil" as a zombe killer was in the Joan of Arc movie we like the best as Joan (can't remember her name) which also had Dustin Hoffman in it as the devil. He did a surpurb job. I am not so sure they followed her true life but made a good movie of it. Anyway she sure made her place in history ~ what a gal. Who would have thought, Arizona. Sounds like you are getting your ducks in a row to be a WW worker. Got your schedule alll worked out. You go girl.

I am off to exercize, have some lunch, and bake some bars. Have a lovely day all you Magnolias.

Susan -- The Joan of Arc lecture and class both sound interesting. I was surprised when you said the center is located in AZ. The snow melted this afternoon but it never did warm up; I wore my winter jacket to my meeting and the breeze was cold. Some of the trees are dripping sap and I'm not sure what that might be a sign of. Bob parked near a tree Sunday, at church, and it almost looked like the car had been egged without the yolks. Yuck!

Maggie -- It sounds like we are having the same cold icky weather. I'm ready for several nice warm sunny days in a row! Blackberry bars sound ! Did you use frozen berries or fresh? It wasn't the school kids driving, it was their parents who drive w/o a license or insurance! As it turned out there was no busses nor cars lined up by the schools -- middle and elementary buildings are across the street from each other. I don't even remember what time they dismiss but thought there should have been lots of traffic.

I am heading of to bed to read for a bit. See you all tomorrow.

Good morning to you all. We had rain again last night, but it isn't too cool here this morning. It sure is noisy outside this morning and on both sides of the condo. I don't know what everyone is doing this morning to make so much noise except that it is trash day.

I didn't have a good night last night. I awoke around midnight not feeling well and then was up pretty much the rest of the night. I am feeling ok now, but dead tired so my bathrooms may have to wait another day, which is all I have left to have the house finished. I guess I am going to have to go back to the doctor's and make a decision about my female goings on. She did tell me last time I was perfectly healthy so a hysterectomy should be last resort as nothing is wrong with my organs. The only other option is the ablation, but I have been putting off having it done, because frankly I am tired of hospitals and it is an in hospital procedure for at least a day or so.

I just finished paying bills so that chore is done. I just think I will go upstairs and take a short nap and see how I feel afterwards and then come down and put away dishes and such and tackle the bathrooms if I feel like it then.

Jean: Ugh, snow still? You can keep it. I got tickled by you saying you got up and thought it was time to get up. On Sunday, I heard Jack get up around 5 am and got to the bathroom, but he closed the bathroom door, which he doesn't do unless we have company or he is taking a shower so I thought he might be sick. I was downstairs by then so walked over to the stairs and heard him walking back towards the bedroom and he was stark naked. I asked him what he was doing and he looked sheepish and said, "I thought it was Monday and I was getting ready to take a shower for work!" He laughed and told me he was standing in front of the mirror getting ready to shave thinking how quick the weekend went, but then realized the weekend wasn't over! I told him to go back to bed for awhile. You can do one of two things with an Ipod that is acting up, you can go to Itunes and plug it in and "restore" it, which does just that, but it also removes everything and then will put it back on. Unfortunately, none of my stuff was in Itunes. You can also go to a website that gives you instructions on restoring it. For some weird reason, I plugged it into my computer to charge it up and it did, but then the little screen went completely white and nothing would come up on it and I couldn't turn off the screen or anything and then when I unplugged it the screen went black and wouldn't come back on. They do that from time to time and will freeze too.

Maggie: I agree with Jean the blackberry bars do sound good. Glad you found the website helpful.

Susan: I no longer have all the stuff on my computer so will have to download CDs and such that I want and reinstall them on the Ipod. Jack just has to show me again how to do it as I have forgotten. I know it is pretty easy. That sounds like it would have been a very interesting lecture indeed. I do wonder why all the stuff is stored in AZ though, but you never know. A lot of times it is just whomever has the money and where they are located.

I guess I will get out of here and go snooze a bit. I need to get back to working on my socks for my girlfriend. I found a neat combo pattern for fingerless gloves and matching scarf I think I will make for Alicia since she is a big scarf wearer and she has been wanting some fingerless gloves. I found a couple of adorable baby hat and bootie patterns, one of which is a little hat that has bunny ears and is so very cute and another one is a little white stocking cap that has eyes and a yellow beak and then these adorable little booties that are webbed feet so the baby looks like a duck! Cute, cute.

You all have a great middle of the week and keep warm and dry. I keep seeing more and more buds on my tree and my azaleas have bloomed fully. They are big beautiful white blooms that Kelly planted when she lived here. Faye

Good Morning, Flowers! It's another gloomy cold day in my neighborhood BUT the eastern sky is showing promise that the sun just might show itself today. I woke up with a hurting gum area, not an ache but a hurt. I have a call in for the dentist since she hasn't liked that tooth from day one. It's had 2 root canals and a crown so I've babied it along for probably 30 years. Otherwise today is more of the same . . . declutter and decide on something for meals. I don't have bell choir practice so the day is my own unless the dentist wants to see me.

"Gma" -- You are a chatty grandma this morning! I wonder why your post showed up twice. I'm sorry you had a restless night as I've been there and done that, then drag around the next day. There are many days that I wonder what day it is when I get up. Another retiree mentioned that she loses track of dates just because she doesn't have to write it on anything every day. I hope you get a nap today -- the cleaning can wait!

I am dressed, and I'm ready for the day! I wish the dentist would call! Have a super duper day and do something nice for yourselves!

Jean -- from Iowa!

Talking Wonderful Wednesday

GOOD MORNING MAGNOLIAS

It is currently 36 degrees and feels like 36 degrees for it is actually calm. We hardly ever get calm. I get my hair cut this afternoon and it needs it for my upsweep in the back is drooping. Not much else happening this day. Glory be ~ Will is cleaning up his office. He had books stacked everywhere and his book cases are all full. A while back I suggested he pack up some of them that he isn’t currently using and take them down stairs. Well he just came in and took some of my big boxes and is packing up books. Oh Beanie just came in here and flopped down on his tummy with his legs all sticking out at his sides. Looks funny. My floor is cooler than the carpet and he likes to lay on it. His body runs a bit warmer than Ragg Mopps does. I lit a candle in here and it is called Spirit of the West and smells like vanilla to me. : One of those soybean candles that is in a jar with a wooden lid that some nice person gave to me and I enjoy it immensely. Makes my office smell so good.

DONNA FAYE I am so sorry you had a rough night and do hope a nap revives you. Yesterday was our trash pick up day and the neighborhood dogs are all barking today. Don't know what is going on out there. Our two are inside or they would join in the rucus I am sure.

JEAN The recipe for the bars calls for sugar free jam so I don't have to just make it in season for berries. I have quite a cookbood using Splenda which has lots of good recipes in it. I am getting excited and anxious for those eggs to hatch. I feel like those are "my" eagles don't you. I wish we could see the babies fly and be free but they are turning off the picture feed before then. At least we will get to see them as hatchlings.

SUSAN & GAIL Hope your day is going well with you.

Type at y'all later.

Good Morning, Flowers! The sun is peeking out between clouds with a chance of wintry mix predicted for today. The dentist finally called this morning and she wants to pull my tooth which has been her recommendation from the first time I saw her 4 years ago. It doesn't hurt but she says there is an ongoing infection there; options are a bridge or an implant both of which is major money.

Maggie -- I wonder if we will see an egg hatch today? I also wonder if the babies stay in the area to build their nests. I like the soybean candles because it seems like their flavor lasts longer than some I've had.

I need to get dressed and get my day started. I hope you all have a terrific Thursday today!

Jean -- from Iowa!

Good morning to you ladies! I am in here a bit late this morning I see. I have been chatting with a friend IM on facebook for the last hour or so. I really miss her as she is a close friend from Indiana so I don't get to see her much.

I am tackling those upstairs bathrooms, making beef barbeque for dinner and that's about it for today. I really have to finish those socks, but like I said before, I twisted something on the outside of my left hand and it is all black and blue so with me being a left handed knitter it can be a bit uncomfortable. The socks don't have to be ready until May so I have quit a bit of time yet but did want to get them done. I don't really like them for some reason. I think it is the yarn, but then it may soften up quite a bit after washing. I found some absolutely beautiful Lana Grossa yarn I think would knit up beautifully for the scarf and gloves, but it isn't cheap so is going to have to wait a bit. The color palate is just gorgeous. Oh, here is the pic of the scarf and gloves I want to make for my dil. I think they are really pretty and the pattern seems fairly simple.

Jean: Oh boy, I guess that tooth is going to have to go. Just think if you hadn't had all the root canals and the crown you probably could have paid to have an implant or bridge and it would probably have cost you around the same in the beginning! I am sorry if it is hurting you. I have always had the opinion that the worst two pains to deal with is a toothache and an earache. You know, I don't know why it posted the regular black print then the color. Ahh well, at least I could go in and delete the other one.

Maggie: I keep thinking I will invest in a wickless candle or two, but they are so expensive. I love the smell of fragrance in the house and Jack hates it. I think it is a man thing. My favorite is cinnamon smells. I used to buy cinnamon brooms and hang them in the house, but they get so dusty and are hard to clean so I stopped that.

It will be interesting what our utility bill is this month. Hopefully it dropped quite a bit not have to use either the ac or furnace. We will have the ac looked at towards the end of the month when I have more money in case it is really expensive. I just hope they don't say it has to be replaced because we do not have the money for that, period. Sometimes I wished we had just stayed in rental property and let them have all the headaches.

I guess I better get going as I need to brew up my barbeque sauce which takes about an hour to cook and get those bathrooms done too. Have a good Thursday all. Hope your day goes well. Faye

Talking Titilating Thursday

GOOD MORNING MAGNOLIAS

It is a 56 degree day so far with a bit of wind here in the Heartland. Last evening I started feeling icky. Sore throat type thing and just absolutely lousy. I opened a fresh box of Cold Eeze and started sucking the zink. Slept a good nights sleep and feel back to exact today. I'll keep my cold Eeze handy just in case I have a relapse. I haven't yet decided what I am going to do for dinner this day but have time yet to figure it out. I am keeping a closer eye on the Egles today, as are many from all over the world, for a baby is getting real close to hatching out of the first laid egg. I captured pictures of when they were laid and in one the nest was full of snow and another had some and then another had none. This is the day that Will works at the museum so it will be quiet around here. He is learning so much of the interesting history of this little burg. The names of the folks back then are quite colorful. Like Rattlesnake Pete was a judge. With a name like that I can just imagine what kind of a judge he was. Life is good. The gal that cuts my hair is the owner and it is a kinda large shop with an area where there are tanning booths. Anyway she was wearing a black shirt duster like thing with a couple pockets in it and made of material that looks like satan and sheds hair well. Anyway the zipper is trick. The teeth in it are rinestones so when you zip it up all that shows is a row of rinestones down the front. I mentioned how I liked her "bling." One of the other gals in the shop said she had one also that was a teal color and she would go in the back to get it. When she brought it out she tossed it to me and said, "Here, you can keep it for it will go great with your hair." WOW such a deal. It is a size too small for me right now but I will shrink into it. I plan on getting a black long sleeved tee shirt to go under it (for the sheeves are above the elbow) and wear black pants with it and have a snappy outfit. When I have shrunk into it I will wear it to get a hair cut in. I love that zipper. You see nothing except the row of sparkle down the front.

DONNA FAYE UMMMM home made BBQ sauce is the best. I have some good recipes out of books I have such as ~ Smoke & Spice, Cooking the Cowboy Way, and Americas Best BBQ. All the ones I have made from those books have been good and I still haven't tried them all. I am so glad Will likes candles for he buys some neat ones for us. I try to stay away from the food smelling candles. Like they make a wonderful smelling apple pie and chocolate also. I couldn't deal with those. Just thinking of them makes my mouth water. What a lovely color on that picture.

JEAN It would depend on which tooth it is for me to decide which way i would go. I may just opt for nothing if it is way "back there." That is a decision that you my friend will have to make if you want to spend the do re me. We have piggy back insurance to pay what our insurance won't on things of that nature come to think of it. I have a butterfly bridge for a missing 6 year moller that I have had since I was 12 years old. Way back then they just pulled a tooth and didn't do root canals yet. I still have all my other teeth except 2 wisdom theeth that had to go. I still have one wisdom tooth and never got the 4th one in. The date was the first of April for the first hatching but it may hatch today and I don't want to miss the happening.

GAIL & SUSAN Good day to the two of you.

Type at y'all later.

Good afternoon, ladies! Still raining and 45 degrees. I just know it's going to go from the 50s to 90 with nothing in between like last year.

Nothing going on today but work and then I need to finish packing for the retreat - that'll take me 3 days because I keep changing my mind on what projects to take. My clothes I can do in 15 minutes Sunday morning.

Faye, sorry about your hand being all black and blue. I love the scarf and gloves. Your BBQ sounds great. Every once in awhile I think I should sell my townhouse and get an apartment but apartment rent around here doesn't fit my budget - starts about $1,000 in York County - and then they can raise it every year, too, and who knows who your neighbors might be. I love candles but can't stand the smell anymore. I dread going to houses where there is fragrance because it sets off my asthma.

Jean, ouch! I have a partial but it has several teeth and cost big bucks but I've had it for 20 years and it's still fitting perfect. My dentist is a perfectionist so everything he does is worth the price. I've never had a crown come off, either. I hope it doesn't hurt too much.

Maggie, I have a Splenda cookbook, too. I was buying Splenda brown sugar replacement until Hungry Girl said it is just regular brown sugar and white Splenda half and half. When I run out, I'll mix my own. I like it in oatmeal.

Hi, Gail!

Have a great day, break time is over.

"Gma" -- I'm sorry about your sore hand and hope it is feeling better by the time you read this. It takes a long time for my black and blue marks to fade away. My visit to the doctor reinforced what the dentist thought about pulling the tooth, mainly because the infection could travel elsewhere. He did say if it gets in the bone around the tooth I could have major problems. He put me on an antibiotic for 7 days and told me to be sure and eat yogurt to replenish the bacteria in my system -- something I'd never heard of. Our cable bill came today and it went up almost $16 without any explanation! I will be calling them tomorrow. The scarf and gloves are really pretty!

Maggie -- The top with the rhinstone zipper will be a good incentive for you to go down a size. It sounds cute. My tooth is a top molar, second from the back. I had all 4 wisdom teeth out at one time and didn't have any trouble. I went to an oral surgeon so don't remember a thing until I woke up. Unless the eagle egg hatched later today, all I saw was one sort of redoing the edge of the nest and rolling the eggs around. Bob thought "she" poked a hole in one with her beak this afternoon when he was watching. He has it on his screen when clients come in and then gives them the website if they haven't seen it.

Susan -- It started to here about suppertime. It just feels damp and cold. Even a cold day with sunshine would be welcome! Apartment living wouldn't be too bad if you could pick your neighbors. We didn't mind living in a condo but ours were built back in the 60s so we never heard a sound from either side. I'm thinking my next tooth visit will be to an oral surgeon to discuss an implant. I know it will be expensive but then what isn't these days. I know you will have a grand time on your retreat!

I am going to watch the news and head off to bed. See you tomorrow!

Good morning everyone! Woohoo, baseball season starts for the CUBS today. I don't know how things will go this year though they have a new manager, new pitching coach, a bunch of new players again so we shall see. I am not holding out much hope with this manager. He replaced the one that retired the end of last season, has never managed a major league team and was one of the minor coaches on the team last year. I think they made a mistake not signing Ryne Sandberg for the job, but we shall see. At least they didn't give this guy a long term contract. I think it is about time they can the general manager. He has made a lot of crappy decisions for the team in the last few years costing them a bundle of money and the team is now owned by a family not a corporation. So much for my baseball thoughts.

Jean: I hope you can get your tooth taken care of soon. Most doctors now recommend yogurt to ward off yeast infections in women when they take antibiotics. The cultures in yogurt kill the yeast bacteria that forms from antibiotics I guess. I guess it is pretty common place to get a yeast infection if you are a woman taking antibiotics nowadays. That's ok, Tennessee is trying to give it to the people that drink soft drinks. They want to cut out the food tax which is 5% here and charge a penny an ounce tax on soft drinks. That means if you buy a six pack of bottles it will cost you an extra $1.20 and around here they run about $3.69 at the store already unless they are on sale. I think we pay $2.78 for them at the commissary. Jack and I don't like canned soft drinks so we buy them in the bottles. I guess that would mean cutting that out more than I even do now. I think they should stick it to the tobacco smokers or the boozers instead! I guess they think they could make more money on the soft drinks.

Maggie: I tend to not bling it up much with my clothing. I like color, but I don't wear a lot of prints or stuff on my shirts and the like. I do have a couple very cute sweaters though. One of them is a peachy pink color with huge white and yellow sunflowers and puffy embroidered ladybugs on it then it has button covers that are sunflowers and lady bugs. My sister bought me a cardigan one year for my birthday that is a lighthouse sweater, but I have never been able to wear it as it is too small. One day I will get into it though.
I included my bbq sauce. Jack really likes it and had two helpings of my bbq. I had to make beef bbq because I wanted to buy a pork roast and cook it but they wanted $40 for a pork roast and the commissary didn't have any meats when we were in there last time because they had a power outage and had to throw out all their meat!

Donna's BBQ Sauce:

1tbl garlic powder
1/2 tsp cayenne
2 tbl brown sugar
1 tbl lemon juice
1 cup molasses
1 cup ketchup
5.5 oz tomato juice
1/4 c onion
1 tbl worchestershire
pepper to taste
1 tbl liquid smoke (though I only used 1 tsp as I don't like the smoky taste all that much.)
You just put it all together, stir it up well to blend, bring to a boil on med high heat, reduce to simmer and cook an hour or until desired thickness. It will thicken as it cools too

Susan: I have to make sure I don't have the candles going when Kelly is expected here because it will set her allergies agoin so I understand that perfectly. I imagine you have the same issue with colognes and perfumes. Kelly wears them, but not often. I am not even sure what I did to my hand. I twisted it a bit doing something the other day and felt this twinge than it became really sore and the next morning the whole outside on the pinky side is all black and blue and up towards the wrist knuckle it is really sore so I must have done something to it. It doesn't hurt to type, but it pulls a bit when I knit.

I have to have my dependent ID renewed on Monday. Jack has the day off because this city memorializes MLK's death so he gets it off. He has to take me so we were lucky as this way he doesn't have to burn a vacation day. Only problem is, they open at 7:30 AM and you have to be there when they open so you don't have to wait in line for a bazillion hours. Hopefully my picture won't be quite as ugly as last time but my face is puffier from the stupid meds I take so who knows!

I guess I will haul out the vacuum and vacuum downstairs today, unload the dishwasher and reload it then have my day free as the house is clean for 2 minutes again. I did up all the laundry last night so that is all done and just needs to be put away, but I have to wait until Jack gets home to carry it up the stairs or I have to do this ridiculous way to cart it up with my knee being bad. I have to have a hand hold to walk up and down stairs.

You gals have a great Friday and a super weekend. We have Jack's eye appt tomorrow, commissary weekend, I have to get more meds for Fortune and color my hair for Monday's ID pic. Faye

Good Morning, Flowers! The sun is shining and it is promising to be a good day! I'm getting my nails done this morning, make a quick grocery stop (WM no longer carries WW yogurt), and will work at the hospital jewelry fair this afternoon. The never ending laundry is piling up again.

"Gma" -- I guess it is that time of year for baseball teams to get going. Our neighbor's son is the coach for the local college baseball team and they were in Florida for training. His parents were gone for a couple weeks and I'm assuming went to watch them. I hope the Cubs will have a winning season! Thank you for sharing the recipe. Meat prices have gone sky high along with everything else. Our gas just jumped to $3.45 a couple days ago. We pay a 5 cent deposit on pop/water/liquor bottles and cans, then you can get your money back when you return the empties. We just donate our's to the local mentally challenged business that sorts and processes them. I think any ID picture makes a person look like a fugitive! Iowa makes you take off your glasses for the driver's license now.

I'm off to the nail salon and grocery store on my way home. Have a fantastic Friday!

Jean -- from Iowa!
