Smile New to calorie counting and i need help from you ladies!!

okay girls, so today i have decided to count cals. (and this isnt temporary....its a life change!) anyways, i need some advice....i am 6 ft tall and currently weigh around 210 lbs. I eat wayyyy to many calories right now so i know its way over 2000 a day. I guess my main question how many calories do i need to set myself at right now? And also when do i decrease them even further? Im also wondering if you are supposed to include your workouts in your daily cal counting?? So many questions lol. Im gonna start keeping a notebook in my purse to keep track of everything......any help would be great! Thanks guys

to the CC way of life and good luck on your weight loss!

I like www.acaloriecounter.com to determine what I should be taking in. It seems to be the most well-rounded calculator out of all that I've looked at. I have read somewhere that you should update your calorie allotment in 5 pound increments. That is how / when I decrease my allotment. As for tracking exercise / calories burned, I track everything I do from the time I wake up until the time I go to sleep and calculate my net calories looking to be typically -750.

Welcome!

You know, it's hit and miss and the actual number that works for you, only you can figure out. I would use an online calculator and start there. If you loose - great, keep going until you stall and then reduce by 100 cal until you see weight moving again.

There is a website called loseit.com it is great. It helps you count calories you have to enter it in every day beakfast lunch dinner and snacks. It also graphs it so you know what meals are higher in calories so you can rectify it. you can also add exercises add it tells you how many calories you have burned. It lets you set a goal of how much you want to lose by when and tells you how many calories you can need a day to meet that goal. My doc told me not to go under 1300 cals but I have a heart problem so that might be why. Good luck hope this helped

Agreed ~ you'll have to be your own science experiment to see what works for you! I looked at a bunch of online calculators and used this one: http://www.freedieting.com/tools/calorie_calculator.htm

The calculator gave me around 1750 calories (for fat loss, not extreme fat loss; there are two categories), so I added 100 calories and went down 100 calories so I do a range of 1650-1850 throughout the week. Good luck to you!

I cut my calories down to 1800 per day for the first 2 weeks.
Now I try to eat between 1500 and 1700 per day.
I have been losing about 1 pound per week.

I don't do any exercize other than my housework and gardening.
But the gardening can get to be really hard work at times. Especially when I have to move 40 pound bags of stones and potting soil.

And I will be building a new walkway as soon as the weather warms more. Those patio blocks are a big strain on my muscles to put into place.

I have to plant a few more fruit trees. They come in 40 pound pots.
I have been putting in fruit trees, berry bushes and grapevines for the last couple of years. The price of fruit in going through the roof, so I am just going to grow my own. I traded junk and snack food for fruit.

I keep track of everything I put in my mouth. And I add it up in 'my documents'.
Then I can see my progress going back several months.
This is the calorie counter I use:

caloriescount.org/cgi/Enhanced_calcalc/enhanced_calcalc.cgi

But there are a lot more in the internet if you search for "calorie counter".
Best of luck to you!

Hey OP, welcome to CC lifestyle, like everyone else said, start with calculator and then after a week or two, if there's no movement, change the amount (to me though, it's tricky to know whether you need to lower them or up them, b/c sometimes your body needs more calories and sometimes less...I can't always figure it out!)

But (and sorry to hijack OP) I really want to grow my own fruit and I was wondering about how you started JOLINA I am really looking to get into gardening this summer because the price of produce is going through the roof!!! Can you give a beginner some tips? Thanks!!!!
