Default BMI CHARTS take a look

I just looked at a BMI chart and found it very informing. It gives you an idea of what weight you should tey for if you are obese, overweight, etc..

On the Nintendo it will. tell you you are ovweweight ,or obese or whatever, but it doesnt tell you what weight you need to be to get out of that category..

Google Bmi chart and click on one of the images.

just remember BMI is not gospel... it is fairly antiquated and based on ratios that dont take into account anyone whose body type falls outside the "norm" it shas nothing to do with body FAT levels, which is a much much better way to gauge success and weightloss.
My BMI for instance puts me ALMOST into the overweght category for my height and weight... but it doesnt know that i am a size 2/4 with a body fat % of 19% ish and a large frame

BMI doesn't take into account if your all muscle or all fat. My friend is a body builder he weighs 250 and is 6'4 but he is PURE MUSCLE! I mean this man has got muscle on top of muscle but according to the wonderful BMI he is obese I find it such a freaking joke!

The BMR link worked for me, but here's another place to calculate your BMR (if you want to do the math yourself):
http://www.goodhousekeeping.com/heal...e-calories-bmr

I like the above article because it explains how to exactly calculate the daily cals needed to lose 1 lb/week

And here's another BMR calculator

OMG this is SO awesome! It was great to see that in theory, what I am doing right now, should have me losing weight at about 2lbs per week, which is what I have been hoping for. Here's hoping that my body follows as it's supposed to!

People constantly rip on the BMI, but the vast, vast majority of people do fall within it's guidelines. Relatively few people carry unusual amounts of muscle mass, and relatively few people are training for marathons. It also already accounts for different bone structures by being a range rather than a strict number; people using the "big-boned" argument for why they fall outside of it are usually fooling themselves.

The average person can be quite comfortable basing a goal weight on what the BMI considers healthy. The healthy range for my height is 130-174. That's quite a large range.

I tend to disagree, and while some people use it as an excuse to weight more, anyone who is here and truly intent on losing weight and gaining health, will likely be honest with themselves about how much they SHOULD weigh.

I AM big boned. I have enough weight to lose than an extra 15lbs wouldn't make much of a difference, so deceiving myself and trying to mislead others does me no good.

I think BMI is barely useful. Plenty of people fall within the healthy BMI range but are not actually a healthy weight and plenty of people fall outside the healthy BMI range and are actually at a healthy weight. This is what happens when you attempt to apply a standard that is designed for a large number of people to an individual.

I hate thinking about BMI.. Because I know I have gained weight but to have it pushed in my face that I'm "over weight" is just depressing.

Under the feather weights forum, there is a question about BMI named "most confusing assessment". Check it out.
