Post Hey newbie here, need some help and motivation

Hey, just been browsin online and came across this forum and find that writin things down helps me get motivated so what better way to start my weight loss than to write things down on this and get some help. Im 24 and weigh 186 lbs just feel like ive been fat forever but lost all my self confidence lately and feel like its definitely time to get back on the straight and narrow and start reachin some goals. I've joined the gym and gettin back into that but really not sure what diet to follow or whether just to try and eat healthy!?

Any tips and advice welcomed

Hi! I'm new too! Writing things down is so helpful - have you tried a food diary? Try keeping track of what you eat, at what time, and how you felt after eating. In the beginning, I discovered I wasn't eating as healthy as I originally thought, and then I began modifying from there! Do you have a goal weight in mind?

Hey lis,

Welcome, im new too! Like Ana said, i find that keeping a food diary helps keep your food intake in check and chart your exercise each day. It's really eye opening to see what you are actually doing to your body each day, and it keeps me super organized.

Also, I found that doing exercise that is actually somewhat enjoyable is huge help and a confidence booster. I actually enjoy running now (i know!), playing basketball, swimming and snowboarding. Find something you like and become passionate about it. That way, its not just about losing weight, but becoming stronger and more athletic.

Best of luck!

Thanx so much for the help and advice, going to get a food and exercise diary started tomorrow because like you ana I think i'll find im not eating as healthy as I think I am.
Agro, I find the gym ok took a while to get myself motivated to go but now I tell people that Im going and then I know I have to plus I think when you say it out loud to someone it makes it more real. You have to enjoy it though so I give myself mini goals at the gym to beat times or distance from the previous day and classes at the gym are really enjoyable.
I would love to get involved in a sport miss brightside though not really sure what as of yet but like the thought of becoming more athletic and my mum has just signed up for her 1st marathon so thats kind of motivated me to push at running too.
Motivated to hit the gym now
