Welcome to my first thread on 3 Fat Chicks on a Diet!! Thanks for taking the time to open and read my post. As this is a weight loss community, I'm sure you are or have been in the same boat as me: the beginning of yet another diet/lifestyle change. I'm hoping this is my last one; I'm determined to make healthier decisions regarding my diet
for good!
I did a Google search for recipes for the diet I'm on - the Ideal Protein diet - and found countless recipes on this site. For those of you familiar with this diet: This is my second day on Phase 1. My doctor will be monitoring me. And he and his staff have all been on the diet for almost 3 months with great success, so I'm very positive about it.
Up until 2 years ago, my weight fluctuated between a healthy 125 and a still-healthy 133. Then, within a span of 3 months, I gained almost 50 pounds. My doctor told me I most likely experienced a bout of Hashimoto's Disease. I'm on thyroid meds, and my weight has leveled off at 185 - a number I never thought I'd ever see on the scale. I've tried numerous times/ways to lose it, but I haven't been able to.
It's depressing, disheartening, and discouraging after you've been well-behaved at being healthy and active for several months, and step on the scale only to see you've gained a couple pounds.
I've had to buy new clothes. I have problems with my knees, feet, and back. My energy level is low. All these things started in the past 2 years. For the first time though, I'm really hopeful and excited about losing weight.
I've only told 2 people about my diet - any time I told anyone in the past if I was on a diet, they'd all tell me after a while that I looked like I lost weight (even though my clothing sizes disagreed), and I'd step on the scale and find that I hadn't. I hated that!! At the same time, though, I know that I need support, advice, and accountability, which is why I'm here. I also hope to give the same to others.
Thanks, and I look forward to checking out the rest of the site!
