In 2009, I lost 20 pounds doing calorie counting and with support from 3FC.
I got pregnant, gained 35 pounds and had a baby in Oct 2010. My baby boy is 4 months now.
My after delivery weight was 184 lbs. I started my weight loss 2 months after delivery. I am only doing calorie counting now. I was not sticking to my daily calorie values due to lack of accountability. I have lost 8 pounds in 2 months. I decided to come back to 3FC to start my weight loss journey again. I am excited to be back. I will post to the same thread regarding my daily meals and calories.
Hello! I also lost 20 lbs. a few years ago and am back after having my daughter. Welcome back and congratulations on your son! Good job gaining a healthy amount! I gained too much and am paying for it now....oops! Best wishes on losing the baby weight!
Are you breastfeeding? If so that can play a major part in you caloric needs. Dieting too much will also effect your supply.
Congrats on your baby and take it easy on yourself. It takes a while for you body to settle back into normal and those pregnancy hormones to settle down. Just focus on doing your best and getting enough rest.
hey, i'm still pregnant, but going to be doing the same thing. God bless 3FC for a place to gather our thoughts and be able to get back on track with support!
welcome.... i made a similar post about 3 months back, and didnt come back after. (lol).
i gained 45 with my daughter (whose now 5 months old)... after her i was 213 (after baby weight, water, blood etc) now im 210.. and i hover here.. >_<; hence why im back also...
congratulations on your son
Just be careful...I breastfed of 14.5 months and didn't start "dieting" until the end and I noticed a pretty big drop in my supply due to a reduction in calories. We were ready to stop at that point, but I would have liked to have made it to 18 months but I'm not sure my supply would have made it. There are herbs you can take to assist your supply, fenugreek and blessed thistle. And when your period returns be sure to take a calcium magnesium supplement for the natural supply drop at TOM.
Congrats!! I've been calorie counting since DD was 5 months (she's 13 months now) and we're still nursing. Just keep a close eye on supply and stay on the higher end of your caloric range. Good luck!
@sept15lija: Thanks! I am eating at 200 calories lower than my maintenance level. I do not want to reduce my calorie intake drastically. Also, I am keeping a close eye on my supply and also eating healthy/nutritional food so that my little one gets the best nutrition. (I've heard that eating a lot of junk while breastfeeding introduces a lot of toxins into the milk)
