So... for the past few days I've been weighing in at 135.5. I am HALF a pound away from goal. I am getting a little frustrated being this close. I want to finally be able to say I made it to goal and lost 50lbs. As dumb as that seems, I don't want to say I lost 49.5 lbs, it just seems different. It is TOM for me and I usually retain some weight and then drop 3-5lbs by the end of it. AND I didn't realize my coffee place started putting out half and half instead of nonfat milk on the self-service bar I use. So I've unknowingly been drinking 4oz of half and half once or twice a day (ah!)
Hopefully in the next week I will officially be at goal. I know I'm being a baby about this and I've been super patient with my weight loss, but I just want to be there already.
That must be frustrating! As a featherweight, it is very common to stall (I was at 134 for a month doing everything right). Although... 0.5lb is just an arbitrary number. It could be what you drank last night for all you know. Please don't get upset over 0.5lb - realistically, what IS that? You will be 135.2,135.7,134.9 depending on what you eat in a day. Once you hit that goal, then what? You might be 135.7 the next day.
I suggest celebrating now Being proud, and looking towards body composition rather than a scale number as an indication.
That's exciting!! I'll be where you are in 10 pounds or so, and that would bug me too about the milk at your coffee place!! haha You'll be there in no time, can't wait to see your goal post!

I'm happy when I look in the mirror which is awesome, and since I didn't actually own a scale for the first month I was losing weight (so the 185 was AFTER a month of attempted weight loss, I didn't own a scale and didn't know what I weighed, just knew none of my clothes fit), I probably have already lost 50(+) lbs. I know it's just a mental thing for me. It seems significant to KNOW that's what I've lost.
Also, 135 is my goal, but I'm hoping to maintain between 130 & 135.
I know how you feel, I have to admit I got a little smirky smile at 129.8 (as opposed to 130!). Glad that you feel great!!! That's a very impressive loss overall!
Oh, I know how you feel As a maintainer, I'm very adamant about staying within my 5lb range. After a few weeks of not so great eating, I weighed in at 130.6 one morning and was NOT happy! Yes, it was less than one pound outside of my range, such an insignificant amount compared to all the pounds that I had already lost, but it made me furious. As long as we don't take it to an unhealthy numbers obsession, I think it's fair for us to be a little bit fixated on a particular glorious number. We work so hard to get results, we want to see that pretty shiny number on the scale. I get it.
I'm like you also, I always see a 3-5lb loss a few days after I start my TOM. In fact, when I was between losing my last few pounds and finding my maintenance, I drifted a lot lower than my original maintenance goal (135) because I'd maintain for a month, start my TOM, and drop 3 pounds. So I bet you'll see the number you want on the scale in a few days.
And good lord about the half and half! They need to warn people about a change like that, lol. Now that you know you've been maintaining/probably losing (assuming you drop a few after TOM) at the calorie level with half and half instead of skim milk, you could probably add those calories back to your diet as real food you can enjoy
Thanks Megan. I was surprised about the half and half. And I didn't even notice until someone else asked to top their "with room Americano" with nonfat milk, I told them I was almost done with the container thing they had out and that's when one of the employees said they started putting out half and half. I guess people weren't using the nonfat (other than me) and kept requesting cream instead, so they switched it. It's a small coffee shop and things aren't labled like at a Starbucks.
Oh, I feel ya! LOL! My goals are identical to yours. Same height, and my goal is 135 but maintaining between 135 and 130.
Aren't you just at the "enough already" stage? I know I am! Get me there! I want to know what size I need to buy. I can be patient up until nice weather and then I think I may just have to call goal wherever I land that first nice day.
