Smile Hello

Hey! My name is Jenn and I live in Maryland. I am 35 and heavier than I've ever been before at 194 lbs. I've always thought I was overweight... even when I graduated high school and weighed 130 lbs, and 4 years later at 23 years old I weighed 137 when I found out I was pregnant with my daughter. Some of it is because I have big boobs, even when I was skinny. I mean I was a C cup by the time I was 13. Now I'm a 36 J (UK size) So I know all the charts say I should way 135 lbs or less for my height (5' 2") but I imagine that's for average built women. Any time I've ever lost weight I NEVER lost any in my boobs, so I'm afraid I'm stuck with them. But I'm wondering what would be a good goal weight for me... Any ideas?? A few years ago I maintained a weight of 160-165 lbs for about 2 years and I was still heavier than I felt comfortable with, so I'm thinking maybe like 145 lbs?
I'd greatly appreciate any input anyone can give me.

Thanks!
Jenn

ps.. I've recently started the Atkins diet (again) and am finding it pretty easy to follow.

Hi, Jenn!

I'm almost exactly your height and, like you, I never lose my "chesticles" no matter how much weight I drop. The good news is that even at 41, not losing there means I still look about the same up top as I did before I started losing weight. When I was thinner, I once tried on a Wonderbra to see if that would corral the girls well and I had to practically put my hands on them and push 'em down to see over them; it was downright comical.

Only you can really decide on your best goal weight, but I think that 145 sounds like a very reasonable goal for your height and age. The beauty of having a goal weight is that you can always monkey around with it as you approach it; I don't even remember what I wrote down as my goal, but I fully expect I'll go lower than whatever I wrote by five or ten pounds.

At my smallest, I weighed 123 pounds in college and stayed that way for a few years. It felt neither big nor small to me and in fact I never thought too much about my body except when it was time to buy clothes. Anything between there and 150 or so felt the same to me. Don't know if that's much help to you, but that's my experience with being at a low weight.

Best of luck to you, and I look forward to reading of your successes!

Hi Nola, I know what you mean about being at that one weight where you didn't think about it at all until it was time to buy clothes. It was just always miserable to find a dress or bathing suit to fit both my top and bottom. Although now I've found this great company in the UK that I order bras, tops, dresses and bathing suits from, only I'm looking forward to buying them a little smaller in the future : )

Welcome Jenn, Glad to have you join us. My advice is to look for a Support group, Chat, or Challange to join; small groups make it easier to get connected. Most sub-forums have groups covering almost every need, find one that inspires or motivates you and just post to join. You might check out the 30-Somethings or Atkins for a start.
