Default Did anyone watch "Enough Already"

I caught just a small amount of the latest episode with the QOV lady. They did a great job helping her get organized.

Several years ago, I made a lot of dolls when I worked at a local hospital for the hospitalized children. People gave me tons of stuff and I kept thinking I should do something with all this stuff. Thankfully my DH was very strickly against my junk being anywhere but my sewing room so it didn't creep into any other parts of the house. (at least as far as he knew) It got so bad that I had piles as bad as hers. But one day DH happend to walk by the opened door and nearly had a stroke and started yelling about fire hazards and how he loved me and if I got stuck in the room during a fire he'd miss me horribly yadda, yadda, yadda....

So I asked a quilting friend to help me clean out and sort my stuff. It took several hours to actually sort through it all, she'd be my common sense and say, "what are really going to use this for? right now, think fast what are your plans for this?" And if I couldn't think of something by the time she threw it into the donation pile it went out. Fabrics that were too thin to work with, fabrics that weren't appropriate for quilts or dolls went out.

So, I can see how a well loved charity project/hobby can become overwelming.

But I don't like that he kept calling her supplies clutter. The fabric is a stash and the other items are supplies. She just needed organization help.
and honestly her daughter should allow her mother to have a life also, she's raised her kids. But then again, the living room was a mess and did need some help. So I can see both sides...but being a quilter I can see her side more.

What has been some of your cluttering problems and how have you over come them?

The best thing about this episode was Peter's idea of putting a date on the box -- if the project isn't underway by May 30th, then out it goes...

I agree with you that quilting supplies are not clutter. This is not just random junk. It is simply supplies that the lady simply didn't know what to do with bec she didn't have a dedicated space for her hobby.
