I JUST started WW on Sunday, and the only bad thing about it is that I didn't start it 10 years ago!
I readjusted my daily points down to 37. They gave me 39, but I questioned whether I was active enough to get the extra 2 points so I took them away from myself. I currently get 49 weekly points too. I haven't used any yet and since my DP is so high, I don't know that I'll need them yet.
I am wondering if the WP value goes down as you lose weight. It didn't change when I adjusted it manually from 39 to 37 DP.
But I'm totally confused on why you dropped your daily points without even attempting a week eating to 39 points. Weight Watchers knows what is is doing and they "assigned" you 39 points a week for a reason....a reason you're paying for, imo. Plus, that is where I started and I've already dropped down to 37 points by just losing 14lbs.
The only reason I dropped it is because when I filled out the questionnaire for calculating my points, I put "moderately active" or whatever the 2nd tier was. After thinking about it, I don't think I am actually active enough to qualify for that and I couldn't find a way to change my answer. So I just subtracted the 2 extra points it gave me.
That makes sense. I did the same thing when I was calculating my Flex points because there may be some days where I will not be as active or exercising, ya know.

With Points Plus activity doesn't affect how many daily points you get. Daily points are based upon age, weight, and gender. Period. (With the old program activity level was part of it but it isn't any more).
So it really isn't proper to lower your points based upon activity level since activity has zero to do with how many daily points you receive. (Activity does affect how many activity points you earn, of course).

Ten Years-
I started WW 5 weeks ago and I was given the 39 points as well. I put that I wasn't very active. In 5 weeks I have lost 17 pounds. Within two weeks I had dropped down to 37 weekly points. So my suggestion is to follow what Weight Watcher's suggested.
Ten Years, are you doing the old program or the new one? The new one is PointsPlus, and activity points are counted separately and are not a factor in your daily points+. For activity, you gain points+ for actual exercise done, depending on the intensity and time spent per activity. Those will be in addition to your 39 daily points.

No... points plus. I'll tell you what happened. While I was doing the initial calculation, it ASKS what your activity level is. I originally put myself as the 1st one, Sedentary, and it gave me 37 points. Then before I hit save, I changed it to the next level, whatever that was.... and it gave me 39 points. I saved it at 39, but later I felt that I over-estimated my activity level. Not sure why I'm now being told that activity level doesn't matter, because it clearly matters during the initial consultation or that question (which was the ONLY thing I changed) wouldn't have changed my points.
Once I saved it, I couldn't figure out how to go back and change it back to the 37 points it originally gave me (with the Sedentary choice) but I DID find an area where I could manually adjust my points. It gives an option to either up or down by 3 points. I adjusted it back to 37 points, which matched my first choice.
That's funny, I don't even remember putting in my activity level in the calculator! I agree with you, I'd drop it down as well under those circumstances.

On the WW online site under the Healthy Living Section is where you can find their Weight Loss and You information and a link to the assessment. It allows you to fill out the assessment again.
Laurie, do you know how to clear it from the hand held calculator? It asks for a weight with each new week, but I don't see anywhere to calculate or change activity. I don't recall even putting it in the first time.

Jennifer, I don't. I am WWonline member only so I haven't used their calculator. I was reading the information on it that is available on wikipedia and it doesn't seem to using your activity level but we both know that how reliable information on wikipedia can be. Sorry not to be more helpful.

Do look at the information under Daily Target, survey based. Using what they have there might help you determine if your Daily Target range in right. I did mine based on the information they had and it is different by 5 points.
