Default TLC's Extreme Couponing is returning

I saw the special they ran in Dec. I was amazed at what some of those people did. There is no way I want rows and rows of shelves with stuff I bought with coupons just because I could buy 100 of it. That one guy who bought all the cereal and donated it to his church's food pantry was OK. But who needs 150 bottles of deodorant?

Did anyone see it?

I only saw the one episode where a woman got carts and carts full of pasta boxes, candy bars and other stuff- her hubby didn't seem to appreciate it because it took up so much space. Very amazing though, only 51 dollars spent for thousands of dollars worth of merchandise.

Yes, but why do people need to buy all that? The one family was glad to have it when they had to start living off that stuff. If you aren't going to eat it, or donate it, why buy it? Some food does go stale.

IA. That one guy hated it. If I hated it that much, I wouldn't go to the store with her. They had to have 2 cars to bring all that home. They actually exceeded the number of items the register can do at a time.

Agreed! I would much rather buy stuff that I'm actually gonna use or share with others, foodbank, so forth.

I read on another forum somewhere that the "extreme" couponers do get that rush, the "high" of saving so much money when couponing. I'm just surprised because some stores have a limit of coupons you can use like Walmart- 40 is the max, I think. I also read that (some?) of the featured couponers pay for the coupons so they are able to double, triple, etc on these coupons as opposed to manufacturers' coupons so not exactly free or whatever, ya know?

If you want to see reasonable couponing - check out Hip2Save.com. I save roughly $100/week just by using her website's guidance for couponing. She makes match-up lists for stores like Target, Walmart, CVS, Walgreen's, etc. It's pretty cool!

I think this extreme couponing is just another name for hoarding. I couldn't use 120 jars of pasta sauce in one year. You know this stuff is going to be way past their expiration date by the time they get to it , if they ever do,
