Can somebody tell me how to break my early rising habit? My mental alarm clock always rings just after five and I sure don't need to get up then! Grandpa sold the rest of the cows way back in 1925 so there's no mooing happening. Even the dogs are asleep when I come downstairs.
Yesterday was much more relaxed than Tuesday but still had its moments. Today is all mine although I'll probably find something to "fill in the time" as some of the dear old Delta ladies say. That slays me.
Hi Ruth,
I sort of have the same problem, but it's not as early as 5am. A couple of suggestions:
-get some blackout curtains so the room stays dark
-when you wake at 5, try to meditate for 15 minutes or so. This will either send you back to sleep, or clear your mind for the day.
-count backwards from 100; imagine painting a large room with a small paintbrush, starting in the upper left corner
-do the dogs wake you? No ideas for that! Our cats do the same thing.
I've been pretty on plan all week so I'm "interested" in what the scale will show tomorrow. There were a couple of cheats last weekend, so I'm prepared for no loss, but would love to lose the .6 lb. that's been following me around for the last month or so.
I'm on a roll at work...being very productive. My friend at work and I have having some co -workers over to my place tomorrow for drinks and snacks. I'm going to try to get in a whole bunch of on plan snacks.
Good morning Ruth and Chicks yet to arrive I do the same thing, even on weekends. For a couple of months I was getting up at 5 every day to get a handle on new job stuff. Now I almost never need to get up that early but always seem to wake up anyway. It does make my cat happy because I stay in bed longer and pet him
So yesterday I learned that not everything that looks like a nice wide shoulder on the side of the road actually is. Sometimes it's just lots of snow that plows have pushed back into a bit of an embankment. It looks great but doesn't actually hold my car up. Oh, and of course it would be a spot with absolutely no cell service. That was a fun evening. It did reaffirm my belief that Vermonters are just about the coolest people anywhere though. At least 8-10 people stopped to make sure I was okay and had someone coming to get me out. Then the guy down the road (rural road, of course) came over and decided to hang around and direct traffic. The cars were whipping down the mountain and it was a narrow road. His friend came by with a big flatbed with a snow removal vehicle on it. He parked that half way into the lane with the flashers on so the other cars would see me. They both hung out in the bitter cold until the tow guy came and pulled me out. Gotta love that.
Today is a relatively easy day - another, longer interview then 2 meetings. I might just come home and do data after that. Tomorrow at lunchtime we are off to NY for the weekend so a little down time.
Have a good Thursday everyone
ETA Hi Mathilda. Glad things are going so much better at work
Good morning everyone...First I re-read yesterday's thread and thanks for all the well wishes and will-power dust...I did discover that yesterday a huge salad (full of veggies and good lean protein) seemed to keep away the "starving" feeling I have been having. This go round with SB and WW I have had more soups/supper leftovers for lunch than salads so I think that is a helpful discovery for me. I guess I will be eating more salads again!
Ruth- I am like you just not up quite as early...not sure how to change that internal alarm clock
Mmckellan- good luck with weigh in....my next one will suck after the week I have had!
Cyndi- so glad you are ok and everyone took good care of you last night!
Well we have had a dusting/icing so we have a two hour delay....kinda glad! Happy Thursday!
I'm always awake early, too - between 5 and 5:30 whether I need to be or not. I might be able to go back to sleep if I could just lie there in my bed, but I have to head downstairs to the bathroom and by the time I've done that it just doesn't seem worth going back to sleep. I'm not complaining though. My early mornings give me time to check in here before I head to school.
Cyndi, I'm sorry about your car troubles last night. I'm glad there were great people around to help and that you and your car got home safely afterward.
My chin is still swollen, though not as bad as yesterday. The swelling continued throughout the day so I got worried and called the dentist. He saw me yesterday afternoon and diagnosed cellulitis and put me on more antibiotics. I'm not in pain but the swelling is uncomfortable and unsightly. I guess I'll survive it though.
I had hoped to be down a pound this morning but I'm up a pound???? I know there's no reason for it so I'm going to blame the antibiotics. I was going to blame my chin, it is big - but not that big!
I had to install several updates, so I'm checking in later than usual. I usually wake up between 5 and 5:30 every morning, even on weekends. I love mornings, though, and use my extra time to get a lot done around the house since I'm never sure what time I'll be home at the end of the day.
Cyndi, I'm glad your incident turned out not to be too bad and that so many people stopped to help. I firmly believe that there are more good people than bad. How is your car, any dents?
I have a nice 4-day weekend, although I do have to go over to the farm for about an hour or so this morning. They are are off to Vermont for a weekend of skiing. If there had been a bit more room in the car, I'd have squeezed in and had them drop me off at Cyndi's.
Good day, chickies! I'm typing one-handed while my nursling snacks so it's slow going. We're having a spot of sunshine today, which always boosts the mood, plus Connor came home from school with a good behavior report and this morning, the chapel accountant called to remind me I haven't submitted invoices to be reimbursed for over $800 of materials I bought for the Sunday School! What a good day! Only Connor's violin lesson and martial arts today. I'm making the kids' favorite lunch - ravioli and peas (I'm having a salad as there's no whole wheat ravioli here). Everyone should be ecstatic by the end of the day.
Ruth, I say embrace the early wake-up and just go to bed early to make up for it. I hate the idea of waking up early but I always love my quiet mornings. It's the only time I can get my workout in without being interrupted.
Matilda, glad work's been going well. Have fun at your get-together!
Cyndi, what a story! Sounds like you met some angels!
Lisa, salads are such fun! You can always change them up in different ways for completely new tastes!
Heidi, I'm glad the dentist figured out what was wrong. I hope the antibiotics work quickly for you! I would totally blame the pound on the chin!
Linda, enjoy your extra time at home this weekend! Do you have any special projects planned?
Kara, it sounds like it was a great day for you and yours. I don't have any special plans for the weekend, except finally picking out the paint for the bedroom. Jake is finally ready to put the color coat on. Then, we start on the bathroom!
Woohoo, I work half a day today. Although I've got so much to do, I'll probably just try to fit in a whole days worth of work before noon LOL. I've got a lunch date wth a friend, and we'll probably go to Panera so I can get one of their yummy salads. I think I'll shop for new cookware this afternoon - I desperately need new pans and want to invest in something good, as much as I cook. Don't really want to pay the $$ for le creuset, though, so hopefully I can find something in-between I'll like. Any recommendations? I've got a stupid glass-top stove.
Ruth, I kind of wish I had your problem. I have to draaaag myself out in the morning.
Scary, Cyndi! I'm glad you weren't hurt and that there were nice people around to help you! Lisa, there must be some snow South of us, because there are some school delays, but nothing here, thank goodness. The kids are devastated, however. Heidi, a one pound chin would really be something to see. cottage, enjoy your four-day weekend! Matilda, I'm glad for you that everything is going well at work. Kara, Happy Ecstatic Ravioli and Peas Day!
Kara - Dr. A was talking about how to eat for health and prevention of heart disease, mostly. Dr. Oz had on three doctors who were ahead of their times and spoke about how Dr. A went against the heart assoc guidelines of the time with his suggestions but now they are shown true.
Ruth - If you figure it out let me know! I am up earlier than I need to be every darn day. Sigh.
Matilda - I hope the scale rewards you.
Cyndi - Glad you are okay! Love those Vermonters
Litar - Maybe I need to go back to salads too. I am doing more of the other stuff because of the weather.
Heidi - LOL! My scale was up for no reason too. I'm going to blame your antibiotics!
Linda - You are so productive in the mornings; I spend my early hours on here. Enjoy your long weekend.
Schmoodle - I invested in All Clad several years ago; they are great but very expensive and super heavy.
I will have the house to myself for a few hours today so am thinking a nap is in order. And exercise. I've worked up to over an hour of slow cardio again. Woo hoo Tomorrow is the day I can start lifting light upper body weights again. Not quite sure what that means but will take it slow.
Schmoodle, as I got older, I found Le Creuset too heavy. I've given away most of the larger pieces - and with a father in the hardware business, I had lots. Now most of my pans are Paderno.
What time do you chicks go to bed. I never go before 11:30 and always get up around 7:30.
Schmoodles, about 10 years ago I got a 12 piece set of allclad for my birthday, I just love them. They are just as shiny as new and very easy to clean out.
Hope everyone else has an on plan day, remember those coats are coming off soon.
take care
Sophie
Cyndi- Glad that you are okay and had so many helpful people assisting.
Ruth- I can sleep til 7 a.m. on the weekends but I do stay up later than I do on the weekdays. I normally fall asleep around 9 p.m. as well but I get up at 4:40 a.m. to workout before work.
Natasha- Glad to hear that your brother doesn't blame himself anymore.
Cottage- I would try to squeeze in as well. lol
Mmck- hopefully the scale will move down.
Heidi- I am sure it is antibotics wouldn't worry about it.
Karen- Have fun with your few hours to yourself
Litar- good for you getting back on track.
Okie- sorry about the job
Kara- whewhoo for forgotten invoices.
to everyone else
I have been dragging this week, I think it is the weather all I want to do is curl up in a comforter and stay warm. But it is supposed to start warm up tomorrow and the weekend is supposed to go up to 50. Whewhoo.
