Default Oops-- forgot to introduce myself!

Hi all! I've been lurking around for a month or so, and finally started joining in the comments about a week ago, but just realized that I never actually introduced myself.

My name is Ari (air-ee, not are-ee), I'm 24, and a full-time grad student. I'm not married, no kids, no pets... no plants even. (It's better this way given that I've managed to kill a cactus.)

As evidenced by my user name, I'm striving to become a runner. I've signed up for my first 5k (in May) and since I have so long to train, I'm aiming for decent time (sub-30), rather than just completion. I'm also a martial artist (1st degree black belt in taekwondo, getting ready to test for 2nd degree in May). I workout regularly and play on the occasional soccer league, so my problem has never been a lack of exercise, but rather, a love of food.

As a whole, I've always eaten fairly healthy. I don't eat fast food or anything fried and might drink a total of 3 Cokes a year. (Ice cream, however, is my kryptonite). Even though the things I'm eating aren't bad for me, I'm simply eating too much of them. I eat when I'm bored, sad, mad, happy, stressed, etc, and half of the time I'm not even aware I've walked to the refrigerator and started snacking. I'm sure many of you can relate.

Anyway, that's quite a long introduction. I'm looking forward to sharing this journey with all of you!

Ari, Glad to have you join us. My advice is to look for a Support group, Chat, or Challange to join; small groups make it easier to get connected. Most sub-forums have groups covering almost every need, find one that inspires or motivates you and just post to join.
