Default hot or cold shower?

So I'm just getting back into exercise, both cardio and strength training...and I'm very out of shape so my muscles have been complaining about the extra work. When I finish I've been taking a warm shower and enjoying it...

but I read somewhere that cold water helps to alleviate some muscle soreness the next day. I could see the cold water helping with mild inflammation but I'm not sure I'm interested in taking cold showers.

Does anyone here do something after workout to prevent soreness? Hot shower? cold shower? I'd just like to see what other people do in their basic routine.

thanks

I find that low-intensity cardio after a lower body workout facilitates in recovery and reduces the next-day and second-day sores. If you're getting sore from cardio, maybe more cool down and stretching afterward will help?

BTW, you won't get as sore after a workout once you've been at this for a few weeks.

When we talk cold water, we talk ice water, not cool showers. By all means, try it if you like but I wouldn't suffer through a cold shower in hopes of any therapeutic effect.
