Default Can 2 Lame Workouts Equal One Decent One?

I jsut really wasn't motivated this AM. I did a VERY light jog on the treadmill for about a half hour. I couldn't bear another second. I am aiming to do 40-45 minutes of cardio a day. Do you think it would be basically the same if I did another medium intensity workout tonight when I get home from work?

Overall I am happy I dragged my butt out of bed before work, since that has been a big challenge. But I am just not feeling that motivated to push harder!

Have you thought about doing HIIT? If I had to be on a treadmill for an hour, I wouldn't be very happy. If you are doing it just to get moving, it sounds good but if you want to maximize your time, I'd look at high intensity intervals.

And yes, exercise doesn't have to be continuous to be effective.

I really wouldn't say 2 lame workouts (btw, I don't consider 20 minutes of light jogging to be lame) EQUAL one high intensity workout.

That said, its definitely better than NO WORKOUT...and you will still see results provided your diet is in check.

I guess everyone's different, I've done HIIT, intervals, etc. but for me nothing drops the pounds like going for the longer runs (1 hr or better). IMHO, get to know what works for your body and follow that.

I do jog in intervals, but not in the HIIT type of way. I actually never heard of that til I logged in here the other day for the 1st time. Do you know where I can read up on it?

I also feel like I want a longer workout. I just am a bit rundown. I'm hoping to go again tonight so I don't get bored and eat things I'm not meant to in my hotel room (I'm on a month-long business trip).

We have one day off a week. I am really looking forward to getting to a Spin class on Sunday!

There are various articles I've read but the one I usually like to post is how to do it. I know many people intermix HIIT with their workouts.

Also if you want a longer workout, that is fine, but if you are crunched for time or not motivated to go longer, then it might help for those days.
