Good morning all. I'm pleased to report a 2.2 pound loss this week. I had a so-so weekend - I exercised on Saturday but gave myself a rest day yesterday since I was feeling that I was coming down with something. Food was the same way. I was a bit upset yesterday because the kitten (who starting sneezing late Sat) was feeling warm and didn't eat much - of course, later in the evening, he seemed to perk up - he ate the ricotta cheese I tempted him with and felt cooler. We are taking him to the vet this morning (we called yesterday for an appt) - but I'm happy to say his appetite is back this morning too. I had a few PMS salty sweet cravings and gave into some. My goal for this week is to get a maintain - aside from Thanksgiving, we are having dinner with my friend and her husband on Tuesday night - not the best timing food-wise but she has another chemo round next week so we're scheduling dinner when we can.

Have a great one!

Hi all.

Judy - Congratulations on a terrific loss! Those maintains were just your body being stubborn, but it gave it up on Saturday! Hope kitty's still feeling good.

I had a so-so weekend. We ended up eating dinner out at a Mexican restaurant Saturday night. Yesterday was another grazing kind of day. It's cold, but sunny, here today. I'm going to bundle up Ana in a bit and we're going for a walk before lunch. Then we're coming back in to a low-fat cream soup lunch. Sounds like a perfect cold weather lunch to me. Tonight I'm trying some stuffed chicken breasts from Costco - stuffed with brie, cranberries and apples. They're a bit pricey at 7 points, but it's easy enough to work those points in.

Have a great day.

Thank you for the warm welcome, everyone!

Wow - 2.2 lbs down, Judy! Great job!!!

Although I just started WW on Friday, I think I'm going to switch my weigh-in day to Tuesday. So, this morning I weighed in and was down 1.6 lbs from Friday AM. Now I need to start banking points for Thanksgiving (I have zero so far!).

Changing old habits sure can be hard.

I didn't exercise yesterday or Sunday, so I really need to move today. We'll be on the road Thurs-Monday and I don't know what (if any) exercise opportunities I will have then.

Happy Thanksgiving, everyone!

Kerry

Carla - weekends are tough, aren't they? Did you get out with Ana for a walk? Mmmm, those stuffed chicken breasts sound delicious. I don't think 7 points is bad at all. I'll have to look for them next time we are at Costco. Is there a brand name on the box/bag?

Kerry - congratulations on that great loss! Did you getting moving today? I know what you mean about it being tough to exercise when you're on the road. If the weather was nicer, I'd say try walks but at least for me, it's going to be too cold.

I had a so-so day yesterday. We took Max (the kitten) to the vet - that was an experience. He did not like it at all but she confirmed that he has an upper respiratory infection and gave me antibiotics (liquid, thank goodness) to give him. He had his second dose this morning - hopefully it will work fast. He's back upstairs in isolation - at least I'm getting additional exercise going up and down the stairs to visit with him. I did a yoga workout yesterday (I needed it after the vet) and I did an intense interval workout this morning - in preparation for Thanksgiving. This will be a tough week. We are going into the city tonight to have dinner out with my friend and her husband. Not the best timing but she is between chemo sessions and is feeling OK now so tonight is the night. I'm going to try to bank some food/activity points today and tomorrow. My strategy for Thanksgiving is planned to avoid the post-event binge. I'm going to have whatever I want - in moderation - I'm not going to go nuts - but I'm not going to count points and I am going to have some kind of desert. I figure it's just one meal out of 21 and if I have what I want, I'll have less chance of bingeing afterwards. The fact that it's not at my house this year should help too - no leftovers.

Have a great one!

Hi all.

Kerry - Congratulations on a great loss - especially for just 4 days. Changing old habits is - hard, that's why it's so important to keep trying, even if we fall down.

Judy - The chicken breasts were delicious. John absolutely loved them. So did I. The brand name is Barber and they're in a yellow box. Yep, I did get out for a walk with Ana - 40 minutes. Now it wasn't brisk, so the cardio benefits weren't that great, but I figure any time I'm up and moving, it's a good thing. Of course, I'm paying for it with a stiff knee, but I hope to be able to get on the bike later. Good strategy for Thanksgiving - enjoy your meal in moderation without guilt and get back to it. That should help with the "I was so good, I feel so deprived, I'm going to eat and eat now" syndrome that both you and I fall into. And yes, no leftovers does make it much easier, post-holiday, although I do loves me a turkey sandwich with cranberry sauce on it.

I had a good day yesterday and ate at minimum points, despite some late afternoon snacking (on good things). I'm trying to eat low end on my points leading up to Thanksgiving, where my strategy will be like Judy's. We're going to my cousin's house - she of the many appetizers, must of them fried or fat-laden in other ways. So my mantra will be "I can have potato chips/mini quiches/insert word here any old time. Save the appetite and calories for the once a year meal." Later today I'm going for a job interview - got a call out of the blue from someone who heard I was looking for a job (yeah, if you want to call looking at the job boards once in a while looking for a job) and wanted to talk to me. I don't know much about the company or the position and I'm pretty ambivalent about going back to work, so I'm not hugely up for this. But, it will be good interview practive should that dream part-time job that pays maximum salary for minimum work ever appear. :-) It's starting to snow here, though, so I'm not looking forward to being on the road. Luckily, it's only about a 20 minute drive.

Take care and have a great day.

Carla - thanks for the info on the chicken breasts. I'm definitely going to look for them next time we go to Costco. Good for you for getting out on a walk. Sorry to hear your knee is stiff but I hope you get a chance to get on the bike. It's supposed to start snowing here late tonight - after we get home from the city for sure but it's not going to be pretty. They are finally here to pour the blacktop for our driveway so that means for the next few days we'll be tramping through the snow on the lawn to get to the cars that are parked on the street. Good luck on the job interview - for whatever that means - hopefully the dream job that's part time for max bucks, etc. At least I hope it's good practice!

Have a great one!

Hi Everyone,

Judy - what a terrific loss for you! Way to go!!! Hope little Max is feeling better soon. I'm sure the antibiotics will clear up his symptoms. Jasper is due at the vet next week for his shots. He's getting huge. Your Thanksgiving strategies sound great.

Carla - Yay on the exercise! Your strategies for coping with Thanksgiving sound great too. Lucky for me our Thxgvg is over with...no more challenges till Christmas for me! I'll have to look and see if our Costco has the chicken breasts...we can't get a lot of the stuff up here that you can get. Brie and cranberries together are to die for. Good luck to us when we weigh in tomorrow!

Kerry - Congratulations on your loss!!! That's great for just a few days into the program. You're right, exercise is so important when losing.

Wednesday is Jen's 22nd birthday. This is making me feel just a little bit old. She's coming home for the weekend to attend an environmental lecture in Vancouver, so I'll be able to spoil her then. So far so good this week with food. Haven't been very diligent with exercising, but I have appointments for the next 3 days at the gym, so I'll make amends then.

Have a great day,

Karen

Hi everyone.

Judy - How was your dinner last night? I saw on Good Morning America that you indeed were getting snow in your area. I hope it wasn't too disruptive. As for the intervew - it wasn't a real interview. I know now what network marketing is: selling stuff like vitamins, cleaning supplies, etc. and recruiting others to do the same. Needless to say, the coffin lid closed on what little interest, if any, I had, when they touted the vitamins that help you lose weight in your sleep. What a waste of time.

Karen - Happy B-day to Jen. Enjoy your appointments at the gym!

I'm pleased to report that I'm down .08 from two weeks ago, so I got rid of all that water weight and then some. I banked 5 points last night, so I have a nice cushion going. I'll try to do the same today. No bike riding yet as my knee is still bugging me.

Have a great day everyone and for us United Staters, Happy Thanksgiving.

Carla - Nice loss! Hope your knee is feeling better so you can climb on your dear old bike again soon!

I maintained this week. My goal until the New Year is to maintain. If I manage to lose anything, it'll be a big bonus, but I think the holidays are going to be a big challenge. If I manage to come out of the season without a gain, I'll consider that I'm doing okay.

Happy Thanksgiving to you all.

Hi all.

Karen - Congrats on your maintain! I think that coming out of the holiday season without a gain is a big victory, especially when you consider most people gain around 10 pounds during this time.

Judy - Happy Hannukah!

I had a really nice Thanksgiving. Dinner was wonderful and my cousin didn't put out as huge an appetizer spread, so it was much more sane, food-wise. I ate what I wanted in normal portions and had seconds of what I really loved, but when I left the table I felt comfortable and satisfied, not stuffed and sick. So while I know that I was over points, not that I was counting, I think that it was a successful holiday meal. What pleased me most is that seem to be making progress in listening to when I'm full and not stuffing my face just because the food is there and I like it. Now to face the rest of the holiday challenges. Saturday we're going out with my in-laws and SIL's family as it was SIL's b-day on Thursday, SIL's mom's b-day on Saturday and we didn't see BIL and SIL yesterday. My guess is that we'll go to a Korean restaurant, which please me to no end. I love the food, especially all the side dishes, and find them to be healthy and low in points.

Have a great day and a terrific weekend.
