Default Short time lurker, first time poster

I was referred over here by a friend on another message board and after taking a short look around I'm pretty excited to jump into this community. In the past I used SparkPeople but found, for whatever reason, that I was no longer "clicking" with the site atmosphere after a while. I felt that it was all about complete success stories or utter failure stories; I'm looking to spend time somewhere where people talk about the in-between.

I'm looking to lose about 22kg, though that's not set in stone. 72 kg would put me smack in the middle of the healthy range for my height, but I guess I don't know what the "right" weight will be until I get closer to it.

I used to religiously log my food but it's extremely difficult to do in Japan. I feel like I either have to guesstimate the ingredients and nutritional content of every meal I eat or give it up entirely. Do you all have tips for dealing with food logging in this kind of situation? Additionally, is anyone else a FitBit user? I just got mine for Christmas and I'd be interested to hear how other people are integrating it into their lifestyle and weight loss routine.

Thanks for your input and best wishes to everyone here!

OH HAY THERE

I lost my first 25 lbs without logging anything. Sometimes I would check the caloric content of my lunches but that was it really. Up until you get to the point where you're just trying to lose vanity pounds, IMHO it's plenty to just eat less than you are eating now and move more than you are moving now.

Hi welcome to the forum.

oh for something like that I have no idea. maybe later if you keep a log of the name of the dish and then look up the ingredients later? Of course if it is a home cooked meal, stuff could be added and/or taken away. Well Good luck!
